''If Not Now, When?'' is a novel by the Italian author Primo Levi, first published in 1982 under the title ''Se non ora, quando?'' Title The title is taken from a well-known rabbinical saying attributed to Hillel the Elder: "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? And when I am for myself, what am 'I'? And if not now, when?" (see also Pirkei Avot). Plot The story follows a number of Jewish partisans and resistance fighters as they struggle to survive and sabotage the German war machine behind Nazi lines during World War II, starting in the western Soviet Union ( Byelorossiya) and ending in Milan. The album's cover features high wire artist Philippe Petit. Background and recording At the close of the band's tour in support of '' Light Grenades'' (2006), the band entered an extended hiatus. Vocalist Brandon Boyd noted, "It's not that we were burned out being in a band or being in ''this'' band; I think that we, collectively, were feeling like if we didn't step away from this monster that we created then it ...

The album spawned four singles: " Wonder Drug", "Protection", "Lungs" and "Restless", featuring The Veronicas. The album's title is a reference to the Vincent van Gogh 1888 painting ''Starry Night Over the Rhône'', with the album artwork's use of light also referencing the painting. The album was recognised a ...

IfNotNow
IfNotNow is an American Jewish activist group that opposes the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Its membership demonstrates against politicians, United States policies, and institutions that support Israel's occupation, usually seeking to apply pressure through direct action and media appearances. It has been characterized variously as progressive, left-wing, anti-Zionist, or non-Zionist. Founding IfNotNow's first public action, then under the name "If Not Now, When?" was in July 2014 to protest the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations's support for Israel during the 2014 Israel–Gaza conflict. Activists recited the Jewish prayer of mourning, the Mourner's Kaddish, for all Palestinian and Israeli victims of the war outside the Conferences' office. The name IfNotNow is derived from a saying of the 1st-century BCE and early 1st-century CE Jewish sage Rabbi Hillel the Elder recorded in Pirkei Avot 1:14: "If I am not for myself, ...
