''If Life Were a Result, We'd All Be Dead'' is the fifth and final full-length album released by the North Vancouver punk band d.b.s. It was released by Crap Records in February 2000. Although their final full-length, the songs on this album were actually recorded in 1997, before their previous album. The songs were intended to be released on various singles, but this plan never came to fruition. The band's music on this album has been likened to Lifetime and Jawbreaker, marking an "awkward transition" from the political lyrics of '' I Is for Insignificant'' to the more personal lyrics of ''Some Boys Got It, Most Men Don't''. Post-hardcore
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. It was initially inspired by post-punk and noise rock. Like post-punk, the term has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. This is the first d.b.s. recording to feature new bassist Ryan Angus, who replaced Dhani Borges. The album marks a turning point in the band's development, and had some post-hardcore influence. Tracks such as "...And Then I Awoke" and "Past Friendships" included acoustic guitar; these tracks have been likened to the sound of The Promise Ring and Jawbreaker, respectively. The album also received comparisons to some emo hardcore bands on Jade Tree Records, such as Lifetime and Kid Dynamite, as well as Converge. CiTR-FM, is a Canadian FM radio station based out of the University of British Columbia's Student Union Building in the University Endowment Lands, just west of the city limits of Vancouver, British Columbia. Lifetime (band)
Lifetime is an American punk rock band from New Jersey. The band was formed in 1990 and disbanded in 1997. In late 2005, they announced their reunion. History The band was formed in 1990 by singer Ari Katz (ex-Enuf) and guitarist Dan Yemin with its roots in the New York/New Jersey hardcore scene. They are known to have met and lived in New Brunswick, New Jersey during this time. In contrast to the negative, sometimes violent tone promulgated by their New York hardcore contemporaries, lyricist Katz emphasized more positive, personal themes in their two-minute songs. In 1993, Lifetime released their first full-length album, titled '' Background'', that bore only passing resemblance to their later, more melodic work. Jawbreaker is an American punk rock band active from 1986 to 1996, and again since 2017. The band is considered to be extremely influential to the 1990s emo and punk genre with their "poetic take on hardcore," as cited by James Monger of ''AllMusic''. Overall, critics have cited Jawbreaker as the best punk rock band of the 1990s. Lead vocalist and guitarist Blake Schwarzenbach, bassist Chris Bauermeister, and drummer Adam Pfahler formed the band while students at New York University, later relocating to Los Angeles where they released their debut album '' Unfun'' (1990) through independent record label Shredder Records.
