Icelandic Basketball Association Women's All-Star Game
The Icelandic Basketball Association Women's All-Star Game was a basketball exhibition game hosted by the Icelandic Basketball Association (KKÍ). It was held was held annually from 2004 to 2014 and featured a mix of the countries star players. The first annual All-Star Game was played at the Seljaskóli Stadium on 14 January 2004. It was last held on 24 January 2014 at the Ásvellir stadium. The teams selections varied from year to year, with sports journalists selecting the teams during the first years while later teams were selected by fans and coaches. The Icelandic Basketball Association (''Icelandic:Körfuknattleikssamband Íslands - KKÍ'') is the national governing body of basketball in Iceland and is a member of the continental association FIBA Europe and the global International Basketball Federation (FIBA). It directs and oversees all of the national basketball teams of Iceland, including both the junior and senior national teams of both men and women. Signý Hermannsdóttir (born 16 January 1979) is an Icelandic former basketball player. She was named the Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year in 2003 and was a six-time selection to the Úrvalsdeild kvenna Domestic All-First Team. She won the Icelandic championship in 2010 with KR. Career After graduating from Cameron University, Signý joined Spanish club Isla de Tenerife in 2003. She left the club in February 2004 due to unpaid salary and signed with ÍS. Tamara Bowie (born June 3, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. In 2007, she was named the Úrvalsdeild kvenna Foreign Player of the Year after leading the league in scoring and rebounds. Generally considered the greatest Icelandic female basketball player of all time, she was named the Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year 12 times.
