Icebreaker (facilitation)
An icebreaker is a brief Facilitation (business), facilitation exercise intended to help members of a group begin the process of working together or forming a team. They are commonly presented as games to "warm up" a group by helping members get to know each other and often focus on sharing personal information such as names or hobby, hobbies. Many people dislike icebreaker games. Facilitation (business)
Facilitation in business, organizational development and consensus decision-making refers to the process of designing and running a meeting according to a previously agreed set of requirements. Facilitation concerns itself with all the tasks needed to reach a productive and impartial meeting outcome that reflects the agreed objectives and deliverables defined upfront by the meeting owner or client. Facilitation involves leading a meeting on behalf of someone else. This is what distinguishes it from meeting science, which aims to develop the autonomy of meeting initiators and leaders. The ''forming–storming–norming–performing'' model of group development was first proposed by Bruce Tuckman in 1965, who said that these phases are all necessary and inevitable in order for a team to grow, face up to challenges, tackle problems, find solutions, plan work, and deliver results. He suggested that these inevitable phases were critical to team growth and development. This series of developmental stages has become known as the ''Tuckman Ladder''. Diversity Icebreaker is a questionnaire used in seminars where the aim is to improve communication and interaction in the group or between different departments or subsidiaries in a more prominent company or organization. In sociology, a peer group is both a social group and a primary group of people who have similar interests ( homophily), age, background, or social status.
