Ice Hockey At The 2026 Winter Olympics – Men's Qualification
Qualification for the men's ice hockey tournament at the 2026 Winter Olympics was determined by the IIHF World Ranking following the 2023 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships. A total of 12 men's hockey teams qualified. The hosts (Italy) along with the top eight teams in the world ranking received automatic berths into the Olympics, while all other teams had an opportunity to qualify for the remaining three spots. Qualified teams ;Notes Qualification seeding To qualify directly, a nation had to be ranked in the top eight following the 2023 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships. In the IIHF World Ranking system, ranking points from the most recent year were weighted at full value, and points from each preceding year were worth 25% less. Ice Hockey At The 2026 Winter Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's tournament in ice hockey at the 2026 Winter Olympics will take place in Milan, Italy between 11 and 22 February 2026. Twelve countries qualified for the tournament; eight of them did so automatically by virtue of their ranking by the International Ice Hockey Federation, one, Italy, automatically qualified as hosts, while the three others took part in a qualification tournament. Russia is banned from competing due to the countries' invasion of Ukraine. Venues Qualified teams Format The twelve teams are split into three groups of four teams each, in which they play against each team once. The top team of each group and the best second-ranked team advance to the quarterfinals, while all other teams play a qualification round. A knockout system will be used after the group stage. The Iran national ice hockey team () is the national men's ice hockey team of Iran. The team was founded in June 2016, is controlled by the Islamic Republic of Iran Skating Federation, and on 26 September 2019, became an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
