INXS
INXS (a phonetic play on "in excess") were an Australian rock band, formed as the Farriss Brothers in 1977 in Sydney. The founding members were bassist Garry Gary Beers, main composer and keyboardist Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, guitarist Tim Farriss, lead singer and main lyricist Michael Hutchence, and guitarist and saxophonist Kirk Pengilly. For 20 years, INXS was fronted by Hutchence, whose stage presence made him the focal point of the band. Initially known for their new wave/pop style, the band later developed a harder pub rock style that included funk and dance elements. In 1984, INXS had their first number-one hit in Australia with " Original Sin". "Shining Star" is a song by Australian rock band INXS, released as the only single issued from the band's first live album, ''Live Baby Live'' (1991), on 21 October 1991. It is the one new studio track recorded for the album. Upon the song's release, it peaked at 21 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart, No. 27 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the group's ninth top-40 single in the latter country. Don't Lose Your Head (INXS Song)
"Don't Lose Your Head" is the third single from the album ''Elegantly Wasted'' by INXS. Released in Europe (Germany and The Netherlands) and Japan at the end of 1997. The song was written by Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss and recorded by the band in Dublin during the summer of 1996. Although it was never officially released as a single in the United States, INXS released "Don't Lose Your Head" as a promo tie-in with 1997 film ''Face/Off''. A Radio Edit version of the single was remixed by Tom Lord-Alge to clean up the opening lyrics; "You wake up in the morning with a starfuck for a friend" to "You wake up in the morning with a dealer for a friend". Background According to an interview in the News of the World Sunday Magazine, the lyrics for "Don't Lose Your Head" were aimed squarely at "Oasis" frontman Liam Gallagher with whom Hutchence had many disagreements over the years. "Searching" is the fourth single from the album '' Elegantly Wasted'' by INXS. It was never officially released although scheduled for the UK market. The song was written by Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss and recorded by the band in Dublin during the summer of 1996. It is also the final single to feature original lead vocalist Michael Hutchence, who died exactly two months after the song was released. Trivia The song was previewed several months before the album's release in September 1996 at the Australian ARIA Music Awards. Due to record company red tape, "Searching", the scheduled third single from ''Elegantly Wasted'', was never commercially released. According to a Mercury Records spokesman, a minimal quantity of around 2,000 copies of each disc were pressed for promotional purposes, but upon the single's retraction all available copies were destroyed. ''Please'' is a word used in the English language to indicate politeness and respect while making a request. Derived from shortening the phrase "if you please" or "if it please(s) you", the term has taken on substantial nuance based on its intonation and the relationship between the persons between whom it is used. "Heaven Sent" is the first single from Australian rock band INXS's eighth studio album, ''Welcome to Wherever You Are'' (1992). It was released only in Europe, Japan, and Australia. "The Stairs" is a song by Australian rock band INXS that was released on its 1990 studio album '' X''. A live performance of "The Stairs" from the band's July 13, 1991 concert at Wembley Stadium was released in the Netherlands as a limited edition single in November 1991. Hutchence asserted that "The Stairs" was the most ambitious song he had ever written. "Beautiful Girl" a song by Australian rock band INXS, released in February 1993 by Mercury, Atlantic and EastWest as the fifth international single from their eighth album, ''Welcome to Wherever You Are'' (1992). Background The song was written by Andrew Farriss, who was inspired to write it by the birth of his baby daughter. In an interview by Debbie Kruger, the INXS keyboardist explained: "I was writing lyrics like ' Baby Don't Cry' and 'Beautiful Girl' and lyrics just about how wonderful it is to have something else in your life besides yourself to worry about and think about."
