I'm Alive (The Hollies Song)
"I'm Alive" is a 1965 number-one UK hit single by the Hollies, written for them by American songwriter Clint Ballard Jr. Although they originally passed the song over to another Manchester band, the Toggery Five, they changed their minds and recorded it, achieving their first No. 1 hit in the UK Singles Chart. It spent three weeks at number one in the UK and was also a No. 1 hit in Ireland. The song was released as a single in the US, entering the Cash Box singles chart on July 17, 1965, and peaking at No. 84 week of August 14, 1965, and it also appears on the US version of the 1965 '' Hollies'' album, ''Hear! Here!''. ''Cash Box'' described it as "a low-key, rhythmic romancer about a lad who's on cloud inesince he met the girl of his dreams." The Hollies
The Hollies are an English rock and pop band formed in Manchester in 1962. One of the leading British groups of the 1960s and into the mid-1970s, they are known for their distinctive three-part vocal harmony style. Singer Allan Clarke and rhythm guitarist/singer Graham Nash founded the band as a Merseybeat-type group in Manchester, although some of the band members came from towns further north, in east Lancashire. Nash left the group in 1968 to co-form Crosby, Stills & Nash, though he has reunited with the Hollies on occasion. As well as Clarke and Nash other members have included lead guitarist Tony Hicks, rhythm guitarist Terry Sylvester (who replaced Nash), bassists Eric Haydock and Bernie Calvert, and drummers Don Rathbone and Bobby Elliott. Parlophone Records Limited (also known as Parlophone Records and Parlophone) is a record label founded in Germany in 1896 by the Carl Lindström Company as Parlophon. Hi-NRG (pronounced "high energy") is a genre of uptempo disco or electronic dance music (EDM) that originated during the late 1970s and early 1980s. As a music genre, typified by its fast tempo, staccato hi-hat rhythms (and the four-on-the-floor pattern), reverberated "intense" vocals and "pulsating" octave basslines, it was particularly influential on the disco scene. Characteristics Whether hi-NRG is more rock-oriented than standard disco music is a matter of opinion.
