Hungarian Handball Federation
The Hungarian Handball Federation (, , MKSZ) is the national handball federation in Hungary. The Hungarian Handball Federation is a member of the European Handball Federation (EHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF). Its headquarters are in Budapest. The federation organizes the Hungarian league () for men and women, and administers the national handball teams for men and women. Its president is Ferenc Ilyés, the vice president is Katalin Pálinger. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. K&H Bank
K&H Bank (, ) is one of the biggest commercial banks in Hungary, owned by the Brussels-based KBC Group since 1999. History K&H was established as (OKHB, ) under the 1987 reform that established a two-tier banking system in Hungary, as one of the three main commercial banks spun off from the Hungarian National Bank together with Budapest Bank (BB) and Hungarian Credit Bank (MHB). The OKHB initially had a network of 47 local offices, the largest of the three. In 1993, it purchased IBUSZ Bank, which had been formed after the end of communism in Hungary from the network of travel agencies. In 1997 the bank, by then known as K&H, was privatised with support from the EBRD and purchased by a consortium of Belgium's Kredietbank and Irish Life. In 1999 Kredietbank's successor group KBC bought out shares from Irish Life and held 80 percent of K&H, raised to 100 percent in 2007. 2013 Men's Youth World Handball Championship
The 2013 IHF Men's Youth World Championship was the 5th edition of the tournament and was held at Hungary from 10 – 23 August 2013. The Oceania Continent Handball Federation withdrew from the tournament. Denmark men's national handball team, Denmark defeated Croatia men's national handball team, Croatia 32–26 in the final to win the title for the third consecutive time. 2022 European Men's Handball Championship
The 2022 European Handball Federation, EHF European Men's Handball Championship was the 15th edition of the tournament and the second to feature 24 national teams. It was co-hosted in two countries – Hungary and Slovakia – from 13 to 30 January 2022. It was won by Sweden; the first time in 20 years they won the title. Katalin Pálinger
Katalin Pálinger (born 6 December 1978) is a former Hungarian handball goalkeeper who most notably played for Győri ETO KC. She was included in the European Handball Federation Hall of Fame in 2023. Career She made her international debut on 22 August 1997 against Romania, and participated in her first World Championship in that year, however, she finished with the national team only on the disappointing ninth place. One year later, on the 1998 European Championship Hungary performed slightly better and captured a bronze medal, followed by a gold on the next continental event. Pálinger took part on another five European Championships (2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010), achieving the best result in 2004 by winning a bronze. In 2000, beside the European Championship title she has also won an Olympic silver, after losing out in an epic final against Denmark. The Hungary women's national handball team () is the national team of Hungary. It is governed by the Hungarian Handball Federation () and takes part in international handball competitions. The team won the World Championship in 1965 and the European Championship in 2000. The Nemzeti Bajnokság I (, commonly abbreviated NB I) is the top professional league for Hungary, Hungarian women's team handball clubs. It is administered by the Hungarian Handball Federation. History The first edition of the women's handball league was when the owner was pregnant, held in 1951. That year only four teams participated, playing once against each other. Csepeli Vasas SK were crowned champions as they got equal points to Vörös Meteor (women's handball), Budapest Vörös Meteor Közért, but were superior on goal difference. Next season Vörös Meteor took revenge and secured the title just ahead of Csepel. The Nemzeti Bajnokság I (, commonly abbreviated NB I) is the premier men's professional handball league in Hungary, administered by the Hungarian Handball Federation. Since 2016 the official name of the championship is ''K&H Férfi Kézilabda Liga'' due to sponsorship reasons. Overview Running since 1951, the Hungarian championship is among the strongests in Europe.
