Hosahalli Metro Station
Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji Stn., Hosahalli is a metro station on the Purple Line of the Namma Metro serving Hosahalli, Bangalore. It was opened to the public on 16 November 2015. History On 16 November 2015, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers H.N. Ananth Kumar requested the Karnataka Government to rename the station after Balagangadharanatha Swamiji, a Vokkaliga seer. The request was supported by Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had "no objection" to naming the station after the seer and had an "open mind" on the issue. The Hosahalli station is located near the Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana, a religious mutt owned by the Vokkaliga community. Although the station has not yet been renamed, it is referred to as "Sri Balagangadhara Natha Swamiji Station – Hosahalli" in announcements on the Namma Metro. Namma Metro
Namma Metro ("Our Metro" in Kannada), also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, India. Upon its inauguration, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. Out of the operational 52 metro stations of Namma Metro as of November 2022, there are 43 elevated stations, 8 underground stations and 1 at-grade station. The system runs on standard-gauge tracks. Hosahali is one of twin-villages Mattur-Hosahali, on the banks of the Tunga River in Karnataka state, southern India. It lies in an agricultural region where the main crop is the Areca nut. Magadi Road is a Namma Metro station on the Purple Line serving the Magadi Road, Bangalore. The station was constructed by Punj Lloyd and was opened to the public on 16 November 2015. Shri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji (18 January 1945 – 13 January 2013) was an Indian religious leader who was the seer of Adichunchanagiri, Nagamangala Taluk, Mandya district. He was awarded Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honour for the year 2010. Swamiji was born to Shri Chikkalinge Gowda and Smt. Boramma as Gangadharaiah.
