Pink's Hot Dogs is a landmark hot dog restaurant in the Fairfax District of the city of Los Angeles. It is on North La Brea Avenue, across the street from the Hollywood district on the east. History Pink's was founded by Paul and Betty Pink in 1939 as a pushcart near the corner of La Brea and Melrose. The Great Depression was still having an impact on the country and money was scarce. People could purchase a chili dog made with Betty's chili recipe accompanied by mustard and onions on a steamed bun for ten cents each. As the business grew, thanks to Betty's chili and the custom-made Hoffy-brand hot dogs, with their natural sausage casings, so did Pink's. Gene & Jude's is a popular and iconic hot dog stand in River Grove, Illinois, founded in 1946 by Chicago city worker Gene Mormino. The stand is famous for its limited approach to the Chicago-style hot dog, its toppings departing from tradition by including only mustard, onions, relish, sport peppers and fresh cut French fries placed on top, known as a Depression Dog. Weenie Beenie is a fast food restaurant, formerly part of a chain. Weenie Beenie predominantly sells half-smokes, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, and soft drinks. Weenie Beenie was founded by Carl and Bill Staton in Arlington, Virginia in 1950. Bill, a billiards player, used money from his pool playing to fund the restaurants, which numbered six at one time. Walter's Hot Dog Stand is a National Register of Historic Places designated landmark located in Mamaroneck in Westchester County, New York. History Walter's is a family business founded in 1919 by Walter Warrington in Mamaroneck, NY. His first stand, on Boston Post Road, was in front of Skinner's Floral shop near the-then Central School (now Town of Mamaroneck offices). He sold cider and apples from an orchard he had purchased on Quaker Ridge. Later, Walter moved south on Post Road, in Shepard's Field (approximately where Richbell Road now meets Post Road). It was here that he began selling his unique brand of hot dogs, blended from beef, pork, and veal, with the wieners split-grilled. Walkin' Dog
Walkin' Dog was an American hot dog stand located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Owned by Dave Magnuson, the restaurant had been located inside the first floor food court of the Northstar Center office complex from 1991 to 2023, though it relocated to a different retail space within the same building in 2021. The restaurant's menu consisted of mostly hot dogs, made with Vienna sausage and including Chicago-style, in addition to nachos, pretzels, and ice cream. It was frequently cited by local publications as one of the most affordable dining options in the Minneapolis Skyway System. The Varsity is a restaurant chain in Atlanta, Georgia. The main branch of the chain was the largest drive-in fast food restaurant in the world, taking up two city blocks and accommodating up to 800 diners. Superdawg is a drive-in hot dog stand with carhop service. Rutt's Hut is a restaurant in Clifton, New Jersey known for its Ripper (hot dog), Ripper, a deep-fried hot dog. Customers can also order the dogs 'In-And-Out' style which is only in the hot oil briefly, in addition to the ‘Weller’ where the sausage is “well-done”, and the 'Cremator' which is charred black. They are also well known for their proprietary relish, which, in addition to other ingredients, is a mix of pickle relish, mustard and cabbage, which gives it a light sauerkraut-like flavor. Papaya King is a fast food restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. History Papaya King was founded and run for many years by the late Constantine "Gus" Poulos. The original Papaya King was opened in 1932 on the corner of 86th Street (Manhattan), 86th Street and Third Avenue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
