Hope Sandoval
Hope Sandoval (born June 24, 1966) is an American singer, songwriter, and the lead singer of Mazzy Star and Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions. She has also toured and collaborated with other artists, including the Jesus and Mary Chain and Massive Attack, for whom she sang "Paradise Circus" on the 2010 album ''Heligoland'' and the 2016 single " The Spoils". Early life Sandoval was born June 24, 1966, in Los Angeles to Mexican-American parents, and raised in East Los Angeles. Her father was a butcher and her mother worked for a potato chip manufacturing company. She has one sibling and seven half-siblings. Her parents separated when she was a child and she was raised primarily by her mother. She attended Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra, but struggled socially and academically, and was placed in special education classes. Kendra Smith
Kendra Smith (born March 14, 1960)Strong, Martin C. (2003) ''The Great Indie Discography'', Canongate, is an American musician who was a founding member of The Dream Syndicate, a member of Opal, and later recorded as a solo artist. Biography Smith, Steve Wynn and Russ Tolman met as students at UC Davis, where all three had shows on KDVS. Opal (band)
Opal was an American rock band in the 1980s. They were part of the Paisley Underground musical style. The band's name is derived from "Opel", a song by Syd Barrett. The group formed in the mid-1980s under the name Clay Allison, featuring guitarist David Roback (previously of Rain Parade), bassist Kendra Smith (from Dream Syndicate) and drummer Keith Mitchell. After one single, they released the remaining Clay Allison tracks under the band's new name, Opal, on the 1984 ''Fell from the Sun EP''. Another EP, ''Northern Line'', followed in 1985. These EPs were later compiled and released as ''Early Recordings''. '' Happy Nightmare Baby'', Opal's first full-length album, was released in 1987. David Roback
David Edward Roback (April 4, 1958 – February 24, 2020) was an American guitarist, songwriter and producer, best known as a founding member of the alternative rock band Mazzy Star. Early life and education Roback was born on April 4, 1958, and he was raised in Los Angeles, a son of nurse Rosemary (née Hunter) and physician George Roback. He graduated from Palisades High School, before studying art at Carleton College and the University of California, Berkeley. He and his brother Stephen Roback, a bass guitarist, formed the band Unconscious alongside Susanna Hoffs, who would go on to become a member of the Bangles.
