George Hodel
George Hill Hodel (October 10, 1907 – May 17, 1999) was an American physician, and a suspect in the murder of Elizabeth Short, the Black Dahlia. He was never formally charged with the crime but, at the time, police considered him a viable suspect, and two of his children believe he was guilty. He was also accused of raping his daughter, Tamar Hodel, but was acquitted of that crime. He lived overseas several times, primarily in the Philippines between 1950 and 1990. Early life George Hill Hodel Jr. was born on October 10, 1907, and raised in Los Angeles, California. His parents, George Hodel Sr. and Esther Hodel, were of Russian Jewish ancestry. Elizabeth Short
Elizabeth Short (July 29, 1924 – , 1947), posthumously known as the Black Dahlia, was an American woman found murdered in the Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, on January 15, 1947. Her case became highly publicized owing to the gruesome nature of the crime, which included the mutilation and bisection of her corpse. A native of Boston, Short spent her early life in New England and Florida before relocating to California, where her father lived. It is commonly held that she was an aspiring actress, though she had no known acting credits or jobs during her time in Los Angeles. Short acquired the nickname of the Black Dahlia posthumously, as newspapers of the period often nicknamed particularly lurid crimes; the term may have originated from the film noir thriller '' The Blue Dahlia'' (1946). Max Hödel
Emil Max Hödel (27 May 1857 – 16 August 1878) was a German plumber from Leipzig and propaganda of the deed anarchist who became known for the failed assassination of the German emperor, Wilhelm I. A former member of the Leipzig Social-Democratic Association, he was expelled from the organization in the 1870s, and eventually became involved in anarchism. Assassination attempt on Wilhem I Hödel used a revolver to shoot at the German emperor, Wilhelm I, on 11 May 1878, while the 81-year-old and his daughter, Princess Louise of Prussia, paraded in their carriage. Hödel was seized immediately. Merwin Luther Hodel (May 27, 1931 – June 15, 1988) was an American professional football fullback who played one season with the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Giants in the fourth round of the 1952 NFL draft after playing college football at the University of Colorado Boulder. Nathan William Hodel (; born November 12, 1977) is an American former professional football long snapper. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2001. Ronny Hodel (born 27 October 1982) is a Swiss former professional association football, footballer who played as a left-back. He started out with local club FC Luzern in 2000 before moving on to BSC Young Boys in 2005. He played there for two years until he was signed by FC Basel at the end of the 2006/07 season.
