The history of the United States women's national soccer team began in 1985 — the year when the United States women's national soccer team played its first match. Brandi Denise Chastain (born July 21, 1968) is an American retired soccer player, two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion, two-time Olympic gold-medalist, coach, and sports broadcaster. Briana Collette Scurry (born September 7, 1971) is an American retired soccer goalkeeper.
