The Hippodrome of San Felipe () was a hippodrome located next to Salaverry Avenue in Jesús María District, Lima, Peru. It was preceded by the Hipódromo de Santa Beatriz, racetrack in Santa Beatriz, disestablished with the expansion of the city of Lima. It has since been demolished, with its premises currently occupied by the Residencial San Felipe. History After the city's growth determined the Hipódromo de Santa Beatriz, racetrack in Santa Beatriz's fate, with , then president of the Jockey Club del Perú, Lima Jockey Club, managing to reach a deal with then president of Peru Óscar R. Ricardo Pío Pérez Godoy (9 June 1905 – 26 July 1982) was a general of the Peruvian army who launched a coup d'état in July 1962, headed a military junta until March 1963 and served as the 47th President of Peru (1st President of the Military Junta). Military Junta Three main candidates participated in the Peruvian presidential elections of 10 June 1962: Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre, founder and leader of the APRA, future president Fernando Belaúnde, and former dictator Manuel A. It is built in the former premises of San Felipe racetrack, with its construction being decided in 1962 by the military government of Ricardo Pérez Godoy. Santa Beatriz is a neighbourhood in Lima District. It is the southernmost area of the district. It limits to the north, with the historic centre of Lima; to the east, with La Victoria; to the south, with Lince; and to the west, with Jesús María.
