Alexander Hewat
Dr. Alexander Hewatt (1739–1824); b. Roxburgh, Scotland) was the first historian of South Carolina and Georgia, best known for his two volume work "''An Historical Account of the Rise and Progress of the Colonies of South Carolina and Georgia''". He remained loyal to the King during the American Revolution, and as a result his property was seized and he was expelled in 1777. Life and work Hewat(t) was a Presbyterian minister who officiated in Charleston, South Carolina from 1763 to 1777. Andrew Fergus Hewat
Dr Andrew Fergus Hewat FRSE (1884–3 August 1957) was a Scottish physician involved with mental health. He donated the Fergus Hewat Cup to the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, an annual golf championship. This is played between the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and a combined team from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Life He was born in 1884 the son of Elizabeth Wilson Fergus, sister of Andrew Freeland Fergus and John Freeland Fergus, and her husband Archibald Hewat FRSE FFA FIA (1838–1915), a life assurance agent. Brian Hewat
Brian Wilfred Hewat (1894 – 28 February 1970) was a New Zealand barrister and politician who served as the mayor of Invercargill from 1950 to 1953. Biography Hewat was born in Oamaru in 1894. He attended Waitaki Boys' High School and the University of Otago, where he achieved a Bachelor of Laws. During World War I he served with the Otago Mounted Rifles Regiment in Gallipoli and France. After the war, he started a law practice in Invercargill and married Brenda Humphries in 1920. He served one term on the Invercargill City Council from 1933 to 1935. During World War II, he was commander of the Invercargill Battalion of the Home Guard. In 1950, Hewat intended to challenge incumbent mayor William Aitchison, who had been serving since the death of Abraham Wachner in August. Corrina Hewat (born 21 December 1970, Edinburgh) is a Scottish harpist and composer who was awarded Music Tutor of the Year at Na Trads in 2013. She has worked with poet Robin Robertson and has written music for the Dunedin Consort. She sings with Karine Polwart and Annie Grace in what they describe as a 'girly trio' and also appeared with Polwart on Lau's 2009 Arc Light album. David Falconer Hewat (23 January 1866 – 2 February 1959) was a New Zealand cricketer who played four matches of first-class cricket for Wellington between 1887 and 1890. Hewat was a fast bowler. Peter Hewat (born 17 March 1978) is a former Australian rugby union player now coaching in Japan's Top League for Ricoh Black Rams. He previously played for the NSW Waratahs Central Coast Rays London Irish and Suntory Sungoliath. On 12 April 2010, it was confirmed that Hewat was leaving London Irish to go play in Japan. Richard Alexander Hewat (3 May 1896 – 14 August 1918) was an American pursuit pilot who flew with the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) in World War I. He joined the RFC in 1917 and was killed in action near Bailleul in France on 14 August 1918. He was a flying ace, having shot down six aircraft during the war. Timothy Edward Patterson Hewat (4 May 1928 – 19 May 2004) was an Australian television producer and journalist. He has been described as the "maverick genius of Granada television's current affairs in its formative years" and "one of the true greats of the medium."
