Heriot's Cricket Club
Heriot's Cricket Club is a Cricket, cricket club based in Edinburgh, Scotland. History George Heriot's School Former Pupils Cricket, Cricket Club, now known as Heriot's Cricket Club, was founded at a meeting held in Edinburgh's George Heriot's School on 5 December 1889. The foundation took some months before that of the Former Pupils Rugby Club in October 1890, Heriots RFC, Heriot's Rugby Club so the Cricket Club is the senior Heriots Former Pupils Club. Its first home was the almost as-new Logie Green (also known as Puddocky thanks to a local population of frogs), the school sports ground in the Warriston district of Edinburgh. The move to the present ground at Goldenacre, Goldenacre less than half a mile away, was completed in 1902. The ground's red-brick pavilion, which still dominates the main square as well as commanding views of Edinburgh, also dates back to that time. Cricket Scotland
Cricket Scotland, formerly known as the Scottish Cricket Union, is the Sport governing body, governing body of the sport of cricket in Scotland. The body is based at the National Cricket Academy, Edinburgh. The SCU was formed in 1908, but underwent a major restructuring in 2001 including a name change to Cricket Scotland. It became an International Cricket Council member in 1994 as an Associate nation. Cricket Scotland has five regional sub-associations: East of Scotland Cricket Association (ESCA), Western District Cricket Union (WDCU), Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union (SPCU), North of Scotland Cricket Association (NoSCA) and North East Scotland Cricket (NESC). Mark Robert James Watt (born 29 July 1996) is a Scottish cricketer. He made his Twenty20 International debut against Ireland on 18 June 2015. He made his List A debut in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship on 31 July 2015 against Nepal. On 5 February 2016 he took his first five-wicket haul in a T20I match, picking up five wickets for 27 runs against the Netherlands in the UAE. Leicestershire County Cricket Club
Leicestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Leicestershire. It has also been representative of the county of Rutland. The club's limited overs team is called the Leicestershire Foxes. Founded in 1879, the club had minor county status until 1894, when it was promoted to first-class status pending its entry into the County Championship in 1895. Gordon Ross (rugby Union)
Gordon Ross (born 8 March 1978) is a Scottish rugby union footballer who played as a fly-half. He earned 25 caps for Scotland. Ross represented Edinburgh and Scottish Schools at U16 and U18 level before going on to represent Scotland at U19 and at U21 levels. He attended George Heriot's School and started his senior career with Heriots before joining Edinburgh when Scotland opted for regional rugby in 2000. The highlight of his early career was kicking the winning goal for Edinburgh Rugby against Biarritz Olympique in 1997 and beating England as part of the Scotland U19 squad in the same season. John Blain (cricketer)
John Angus Rae Blain (born 4 January 1979) is a Scottish first-class cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman, and a right-arm fast-medium pace bowler. In May 2019, he was inducted into Cricket Scotland's Hall of Fame. However, in July 2022, Blain was "temporarily suspended" from the hall of fame. Playing career Attaining his first cap in 1996, Blain became Scotland's youngest-capped cricketer since 1890. He played during the 1996 European Championship taking seven wickets at 9.85. Blain was initially signed as a footballer to Falkirk but decided to switch to cricket, signing for Northamptonshire, having not made an impact as a footballer. Asim Mohamood Butt (24 October 1967 – 30 November 2009) was a Pakistani cricketer who was primarily a left-arm fast bowler, and also a hard hitting lower order batsman. He played five One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Scotland, all in the 1999 Cricket World Cup. His best ODI bowling figures were two for 24 against Bangladesh in a match where the Bangladeshis were limited to 183, but the Scots wilted in the low chase and Butt, coming in at ten, could only score one run. He tested positive for MDMA during a match with Somerset and was banned from cricket for a year.
