Heinrich Kemper (25 February 1888 – 23 August 1962) was a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and former member of the German Bundestag. Life He was a member of the German Bundestag from its first election in 1949 to 1957. In parliament he represented the constituency of Trier. From 1946 to 1949, Kemper served as Lord Mayor of the city of Trier. The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet (assembly), Diet") is the German Federalism, federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The Bundestag was established by Title III of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany (, ) in 1949 as one of the legislative bodies of Germany and thus it is the historical successor to the earlier Reichstag (Weimar Republic), Reichstag.
