The qualification for the 2016 Men's Olympic Handball Tournament was held from January 2015 to April 2016. Twelve teams qualified, the hosts, the world champion, four continental event winners and six teams from the World Olympic qualification tournaments respectively. Handball At The 2016 Summer Olympics
The handball tournaments at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held from 6 to 21 August at the Future Arena in the Barra Olympic Park. The tournaments were won by Denmark in the men's competition and Russia for the women's tournament. The French teams for both competitions finished with the silver medal, and the bronze went to Germany and Norway, respectively. Format The handball event at the 2016 Summer Olympics was played between 6 and 21 August 2016 at the Future Arena in the Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Games consisted of two tournaments, one each for men and women's teams. The events featured twelve teams, who qualified for the tournament from a series of preceding tournaments, as well as the host country Brazil. The draw for the championships took place on 29 April 2016, and split the teams into Round-robin tournament, round robin groups of six. Duhail Handball Sports Hall is an indoor sports arena based in the suburb of Duhail in Doha, Qatar. It was built to host matches of the 2015 World Men's Handball Championship. Karol Bielecki (born 23 January 1982) is a Polish former handball player who played for the Polish national team. Career He played for the national team, winning a silver medal in the World Handball Championship in 2007 and a bronze in 2009 and 2015. He announced his retirement from the national team on 13 April 2012, following the unsuccessful Olympic campaign of Poland.
