Calon (Welsh for 'heart') is the trading name of Mount Stuart Media Ltd., a British animation television production company based in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, which primarily produced Welsh animated series for S4C. The company was formerly known as ''Siriol Animation'' and ''Siriol Productions''. History Calon was set up following the management buy-out from Entertainment Rights of Siriol Productions, when Entertainment Rights moved its head office to London. Most members of staff stayed in Wales to help re-establish Siriol as an independent production company. The deal included all rights to current productions and a few older titles, but the rights to most of the older series are now held by Entertainment Rights. The company eventually employed over 40 people and was a developer of talent in the Welsh animation industry for more than 30 years. Animation
Animation is a filmmaking technique whereby still images are manipulated to create moving images. In traditional animation, images are drawn or painted by hand on transparent celluloid sheets to be photographed and exhibited on film. Animation has been recognised as an artistic medium, specifically within the entertainment industry. Many animations are either traditional animations or computer animations made with computer-generated imagery (CGI). Stop motion animation, in particular claymation, has continued to exist alongside these other forms. Animation is contrasted with live action, although the two do not exist in isolation. Bobinogs
''Bobinogs'' (original Welsh title: ''Bobinogi'') is a British children's television programme that aired on CBeebies, and it was produced by Adastra Creative for BBC Cymru Wales. It debuted in the United Kingdom in 2003. The episodes are 15 minutes long, consisting mostly of flash animation, but clips of real life scenarios are also used. These clips were filmed at various nursery schools across Wales. The series has won awards from BAFTA Cymru and the Celtic Media Festival. Animation production for the third season was taken over by Calon in 2005, following Siriol Productions move to their London headquarters. ''SuperTed'' is a Welsh language superhero animated television series about an anthropomorphic teddy bear with superpowers, created by writer and animator Mike Young. Originally created by him as a series of stories to help his son overcome his fear of the dark, SuperTed became a popular series of books and led to an animated series produced from 1982 to 1986. Michael Emlyn Young (born 16 October 1945) is a Welsh Emmy Award, Emmy and British Academy of Film and Television Arts, BAFTA Award-winning producer. He is the founder of two animation companies in both the UK and the US. His company in 2015 changed its name from Mike Young Productions to Splash Entertainment, which also is a majority owner of the AVOD network Kabillion. Biography Young was born in Cwm, Ebbw Vale, Gwent. TVB Pearl () is an English-language television channel in Hong Kong owned by Television Broadcasts Limited. Established on 19 November 1967, it shares headquarters with TVB's other properties at TVB City at 77 Chun Choi Street in Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate in Tseung Kwan O, in the Sai Kung District. Caroline Harker (born 1966 as Caroline Anne Owens) is an English stage and television actress. Career Harker is known for her roles as Celia in the BBC's ''Middlemarch'', and as Woman Police Constable (WPC) (later Detective Sgt.) Boyd Daniel Clack (born 7 March 1951) is a Canadian-born Welsh writer, actor, and musician. He was born in Vancouver, Canada to Welsh parents. At a young age, he emigrated with his family to Wales, where he grew up in Tonyrefail, where his family were originally from.
