Graham's Bus Service
Grahams of Paisley was an independent bus operator in called Andrew Graham. Paisley, Scotland. Based at its Hawkhead Road depot, it provided local bus services around the town of Paisley. It also provided the Linwood Clipper express coach service from Linwood to Glasgow in the 1970s and 1980s. History J & W Graham started trading at Linwood Toll in the 1920s with a Johnstone to Glasgow service using red single decker buses under the umbrella of the South Western Bus Owners’ Associations cooperative. Fierce competition from other buses and the Glasgow trams led to the elimination of the service and the four buses were sold to Western SMT in 1932. Single-decker buses were instead employed on the Linwood to Hawkhead service and were joined in 1940 by the first of seven ex-Glasgow Leyland Titan TD1 double-deckers to cope with increased traffic. Strathclyde Buses
Strathclyde Buses was a bus operating company in Glasgow and west-central Scotland. It commenced operations in October 1986. Prior to 1986, the council-owned buses had belonged to Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive (Strathclyde PTE), and therefore were owned by Strathclyde Regional Council. The new company, although still under the control of the Council, was no longer able to rely on the Council for any financial, or any other, help. In 1996 the company was taken over by FirstGroup. Western Scottish Omnibuses Ltd, in Scotland, was a bus operating subsidiary of the Scottish Transport Group formed in June 1985 from Western SMT Company Ltd and operated until 1997, when it became Western Buses Ltd. The Leyland Leopard was a mid-engined single-decker bus and single-decker coach chassis manufactured by Leyland between 1959 and 1982. History The Leyland Leopard was introduced in 1959. It was developed from the Leyland Tiger Cub, one of the most important changes being the introduction of the larger and more powerful O.600 engine (later-built Leopards were fitted with the 11.1-litre O.680 engine).
