Rottweil Station
Rottweil station is on the Plochingen–Immendingen railway in the German state of Baden-Württemberg and is the start of the Rottweil–Villingen railway. It lies on the northeastern edge of Rottweil at a height of 557 metres above sea level. History Construction began in 1865. During the work, the remains of about 2,000 Russian soldiers were found. They had died about 50 years earlier in an epidemic. Their final resting place was in a mass grave on the grounds of the station. The station was opened on 23 July 1868. Originally the station was 685 metres long and up to 162 metres wide. The complex included an administration building, a freight shed, two locomotive sheds and a repair shop. On 11 August 1972, a freight train with 26 wagons derailed. Among other things, six tankers with caustic soda overturned, releasing 30,000 litres of caustic soda, but volunteer fire fighters prevented an oxyhydrogen explosion. Kirchheim (Teck) station (1864–1899: Kirchheim u Teck) is the most important station of the Baden-Württemberg town Kirchheim unter Teck. Today's train station is at kilometer 6.465 of the Teck Railway between Wendlingen (Neckar) and Oberlenningen. It is served by the Stuttgart S-Bahn S1 line and the regional train line R81. History The 6.11 kilometers long stretch from Unterboihingen (today Wendlingen) via Ötlingen to Kirchheim (Teck) was finished on 21 September 1864. Stuttgart S-Bahn
The Stuttgart S-Bahn is a suburban railway system (S-Bahn) serving the Stuttgart Region, an urban agglomeration of around 2.7 million people, consisting of the city of Stuttgart and the adjacent districts of Esslingen, Böblingen, Ludwigsburg and Rems-Murr-Kreis. Karlsruhe Stadtbahn
The Karlsruhe Stadtbahn is a German tram-train system combining Karlsruhe trams, tram lines in the city of Karlsruhe with railway lines in the surrounding countryside, serving the entire region of the middle upper Rhine valley and creating connections to neighbouring regions. The Stadtbahn combines an efficient urban railway in the city with an S-Bahn (suburban railway), overcoming the boundary between trams and trains. Its logo does not include the green and white S-Bahn symbol used in other German suburban rail systems and the symbol is only used at stops and stations outside the inner-city tram-operation area. The idea to link tram and railway lines with one another in order to be able to offer an attractive transport system for town and outskirts was developed in Karlsruhe and implemented gradually in the 1980s and 1990s, with the system commencing operation in 1992. Herrenberg Station
Herrenberg station is located on the Stuttgart–Horb railway () and is at the start of the Ammer Valley Railway (''Ammertalbahn''). Because it is a stop for Regional-Express services and it is a terminus for both Stuttgart S-Bahn line S 1 and Regionalbahn services from Tübingen and Bondorf, it is an important transport node.
