Gymnastics At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Artistic Qualification
Qualifications for Women's artistic gymnastic competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium on August 10. The results of the qualification determined the qualifiers to the finals: eight teams in the team final, 24 gymnasts in the all-around final, and eight gymnasts in each of four apparatus finals. The competition was divided into four sessions, at 10:00am, 1:30pm, 5:00pm and 8:00pm. 2008 Summer Olympics
The 2008 Summer Olympics (), officially the Games of the XXIX Olympiad () and officially branded as Beijing 2008 (), were an international multisport event held from 8 to 24 August 2008, in Beijing, China. A total of 10,942 athletes from 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) competed in 28 sports and 302 events, one event more than those scheduled for the 2004 Summer Olympics. This was the first time China had hosted the Olympic Games, and the third time the Summer Olympic Games had been held in East Asia, following the 1964 Summer Olympics, 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, and the 1988 Summer Olympics, 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Ekaterina Kramarenko
Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Kramarenko (, born April 22, 1991, in Leningrad) is a Russian artistic gymnast. She is the 2007 European bronze medalist on the uneven bars and 2014 World bronze medalist in the team competition. Senior career At the 2007 European Championships, Kramarenko placed 5th in the all-around final and won the bronze medal on the uneven bars. 2007 World Championships At the 2007 World Championships team final Kramarenko bailed on her vault and placed her hands on the vaulting table to stop her momentum. This automatically earned her a score of zero, dropping the Russian team from medal contention to last place. Kramarenko needed only a mediocre score to secure the bronze medal for Russia and theoretically could have sat down her vault and still won the medal. She was inconsolable after her vault and was comforted by her teammate Yulia Lozhechko as Elena Zamolodchikova completed her vault, knowing her score would not matter. Lauren Mitchell
Lauren Stephanie Mitchell (born 23 July 1991) is an Australian former artistic gymnastics, artistic gymnast. She is the 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 2010 World champion on the Floor (gymnastics), floor exercise and the 2009 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, 2009 World Championships silver medalist on the balance beam and floor exercise. Mitchell is only the second Australian female gymnast to win a medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, World Championships, and she is the first to win a gold medal. She is the 2010 Commonwealth Games champion in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam, and with Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the Australian team, and she is the 2008 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Final, 2008 World Cup Final balance beam champion.
