Gymnastics At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's Uneven Bars
The women's uneven bars competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held on 14 August at the Rio's Olympic Arena. The medals were presented by Alexander Zhukov, IOC member representing Russia, and Alejandro Peniche, FIG Executive Committee Member. Competition format The top 8 qualifiers in the qualification phase (limit two per NOC), based on combined score of each apparatus, advanced to the individual all-around final. The finalists performed on each apparatus again. Qualification scores were then ignored, with only final round scores counting. Qualification The gymnasts who ranked top eight qualified for final round. In case of there were more than two gymnasts in same NOC, the last ranked among them would not qualify to final round. The next best ranked gymnast would qualify instead. Farmasi Arena is an indoor arena, indoor multipurpose arena, located in the region of Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is one of the indoor arena with largest capacity in the country, with 15,430 people for sports and up to 18,768 for concerts. The arena is named for the Turkish cosmetics company Farmasi through a naming rights deal closed in 2024. Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas (born December 31, 1995) is an American artistic gymnast. She is the 2012 Olympic all-around champion and the 2015 World all-around silver medalist. Gymnastics events have been contested at every Summer Olympic Games since the birth of the modern Olympic movement at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens. Gymnastics at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held in three categories: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. Nina Derwael
Nina Derwael ( ; born 26 March 2000) is a Belgian artistic gymnast. She is the 2020 Olympic champion, a two-time World champion (2018, 2019), and a three-time European champion (2017, 2018 & 2025) on the uneven bars. She also is the 2019 European Games and 2025 European champion on the balance beam. She represented Belgium at the 2016 Summer Olympics and at the 2020 Olympics. Seda Gurgenovna Tutkhalyan (, ; born 15 July 1999) is a Russian artistic gymnast. She is the 2014 Youth Olympic Games Individual All-around champion and a 2016 Summer Olympics Team silver medalist. Personal life Tutkhalyan was born July 15, 1999, in Gyumri, Armenia, and moved to Moscow early in childhood.
