Guruvayur–Thrissur Spur Line
Guruvayur–Thrissur section is a spur line functioning under Trivandrum railway division of Southern Railway zone. This is a single broad-gauge line which begins at Thrissur city and ends at Guruvayur in Thrissur district of Kerala. The section was opened for traffic in the year 1994. The line connects the ''Cultural Capital of Kerala'', Thrissur to the ''Temple Town of Kerala'', Guruvayur, the fourth biggest temple in India in terms of the number of devotees per day. History In 1983, Kamalapati Tripathi, then Minister of Railways (India) announced the construction of Thrissur–Guruvayur–Kuttippuram section. But following stiff opposition from the local people, Kuttipuram was dropped. Kuttippuram
Kuttippuram is a town and a block headquarters, which is situated in the Tirur Taluk, Malappuram district in the Indian state of Kerala. The town is located 32 kilometres south of Malappuram And 8 kilometers from Valanchery. The Bharathappuzha river flows through Kuttippuram. Tirunavaya, also spelled as Thirunavaya, is a town in Tirur Malappuram, Kerala. Situated on the northern bank of Bharatappuzha (River Ponnani/Nila or Perar), it is one of the major Hindu pilgrimage centres in Kerala. Kannoth Karunakaran
Kannoth Karunakaran (5 July 191823 December 2010) was an Indian politician and statesman who served as the chief minister of Kerala in 1977, from 1981 to March 1982, from May 1982 to 1987 and from 1991 to 1995. He is the founder of the Indian National Congress (INC)-led United Democratic Front (UDF) coalition, which governed the state in the periods of 1982-87, 1991-96, 2001-06 and 2011-16; and currently is the main opposition in Kerala . Suresh Kalmadi (born 1 May 1944) is an Indian politician and senior sports administrator. He is a former member of the Indian National Congress. He was a member of parliament from Pune until May 2014.
