Guará (footballer, Born 1916)
Guaracy Januzzi (4 January 1916 – 19 November 1978), better known as Guará, was a Brazilian professional footballer who played as a forward. Career Nicknamed "Diabo Loiro" (Blondie Devil), Guará began his career at his hometown club, Aymorés. As a youth, he was brought to Atlético Mineiro, a club where he made 200 appearances and scored 168 goals, becoming state champion three times, the FBF Champions Cup, being top scorer on two occasions. In 1939 he almost died on the field after colliding head to head with Caieiras, suffering head trauma and spending 23 days in a coma. After retiring, he worked in the lotteries. Ubá
Ubá is a Municipalities of Brazil, municipality located in the Zona da Mata (Minas Gerais), Zona da Mata Mesoregion (Brazil), mesoregion of Minas Gerais, Brazil, southeast of Belo Horizonte, and north of Rio de Janeiro. Sport Club Aymorés
Sport Club Aymorés, is a Brazilian football club from Ubá, Minas Gerais. History Founded as Sport Club Santa Cruz on 17 May 1926, in honor of the neighborhood where it is located, it later changed to Sport Club Aymorés, the same name as a matchstick company in the city. It remained a social and amateur club for most of its history, only entering professional football at the end of the 1980s, remaining until 1994. In 2020, it returned, winning the Campeonato Mineiro Segunda Divisão (third level) title, and remaining in Módulo II (second level) in the following years. The Campeonato Mineiro is the top-flight professional state football league in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. It is run by the Minas Gerais Football Federation (FMF). The history of Campeonato Mineiro can be divided into two parts: before and after the construction of the Mineirão, in September 1966. The Mineirão is the biggest football stadium of Minas Gerais and it is located in Minas Gerais' state capital, Belo Horizonte. Before the stadium's inauguration América and Atlético were the most successful teams in the state, but after the construction of the Mineirão, known as the "Era Mineirão" ("Mineirão Era"), another team from the capital, Cruzeiro, also gained prominence. The 1937 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A (officially the 1937 Torneio dos Campeões) was the 1st edition of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. It was an official tournament organized by the now defunct Brazilian Football Federation (FBF) and aimed to point the Brazilian champion at that time. It was the second time a state champions cup happened in Brazil. The competition brought together the 1936 champions of the state leagues of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and was played in round-robin for points systems. The winning team was the Atlético Mineiro. On 25 August 2023, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) officially recognized the tournament as analogous to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, thus conferring to Atlético Mineiro the status of first national champions of Brazil.
