Grüner IL
Grüner Idrettslag is a Norwegian alliance sports club from Grünerløkka, Oslo. It has sections for association football, team handball and ice hockey, formally named ''Grüner Fotball IL '', ''Grüner Håndball IL'' and ''Grüner Ishockey IL''. The club colors are purple. It was founded on 14 October 1952 as a merger of the teams ''Strong'', ''B14'' and ''Spero'', but it counts 1914, founding date of B14, as its own founding date. After merging with ''Hugin'' in 1969 it held the name ''Grüner/Hugin'', but reverted to Grüner IL in 1974. The club crest was inspired by that of Allmänna Idrottsklubben. Departments Football The men's football team currently plays in the Fourth Division, having had runs in the Third Division from 2002 to 2005 and from 2007 to 2012. Grüner Veltliner
Grüner Veltliner (Green Veltliner) ) is a white wine grape variety grown primarily in Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. The leaves of the grape vine are five-lobed with bunches that are long but compact, and deep green grapes that ripen in mid-late October in the Northern Hemisphere. In 2008, Grüner Veltliner plantations in Austria stood at , and it accounts for 32.6% of all vineyards in the country, almost all of it being grown in the northeast of the country. Thus, it is the most-planted grape variety in Austria. Some is made into sparkling wine in the far northeast around Poysdorf. Along the Danube to the west of Vienna, in Wachau, Kremstal and Kamptal, it grows with Riesling in terraces on slopes so steep they can barely retain any soil. The result is a very pure, mineral wine capable of long aging, that stands comparison with some of the great wines of the world. Grüner (restaurant)
Grüner was an "Alpine" restaurant in Portland, Oregon. Description and history The restaurant was opened by Chris Israel in late 2009, and closed after December 31, 2015. Grüner's mainstay burger, dubbed "The Hambürger", was thought by many to be Portland's best, and it was reintroduced at The Loyal Legion when the former Executive Chef of Grüner took over that venue's bar. The restaurant also served bratwurst, pretzel-wrapped weisswurst, saucisson sausage, sauerkraut, gold potatoes, and sweet-hot mustard. The drink menu included German-style beers. Kask Grüner's attached bar, Kask, was named one of the top five cocktail bars in the city by the ''Drink Spirits'' magazine, and initially remained open following Grüner's closure. Kask was given a four star rating by the Difford's Guide in 2014. It has since closed, and Icarus has moved into the space.
