Greek Women's Volleyball League
The Greek Women's Volleyball League is organised by Hellenic Volleyball Federation (Greek:Ελληνική Ομοσπονδία Πετοσφαίρισης). Panathinaikos won the first championship in 1971. During the first decade, Panathinaikos and ZAON Kifissia dominated. Panathinaikos have won 26 championships. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the program at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. Basic play The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. Filathlitikos Thessaloniki
Filathlitikos was a women's volleyball team from Thessaloniki in the Greek Women's Volleyball League. It won four championships, dominating the end of 1980s. It won its last championship in the 2002–3 season before going into decline. In the 2006–7 season, the team was relegated from the first division championship because of financial problems and its place was taken by Epikouros Polichnis. Panionios G.S.S. Voula () is a southern suburb of Athens along the Athens coast and former municipality in East Attica, Greece.
