Sir James Grant, 1st Baronet
Sir James Grant, 1st Baronet (died 1695) was a Scotland, Scottish lawyer of the seventeenth century. Appointed Lord Advocate, King's Advocate, he was created a baronet, "of Dalvey, Elgin, Nova Scotia, Elgin", in the baronetage of Nova Scotia on 10 August 1688, with remainder "to his heirs whatsoever". He died in 1695 and was succeeded in his title and estates by his younger brother Ludovic. Lodge's ''Genealogy of the Existing British Peerage and Baronetage'' states that this family of Grant is "a branch of the ancient family of Grant, of Grant".page 699

James Grant (RAF Airman)
Sergeant James Grant (30 January 1899 – ) was a Scottish flying ace credited with eight aerial victories during World War I. The teenage non-commissioned officer was a rarity among aces. While most were commissioned officers and fighter pilots, he was an observer and gunner aboard a bomber. Nonetheless, his accuracy with a machine gun and his doughtiness led to his being awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal when he was only 18 years old. Early life Grant was born at the Ballimore estate, Kilfinan, Argyll, Scotland, in 1899, the son of Simon Grant, a gardener, and Agnes McLeod Grant. He was living in Sandbank, Argyll when he enlisted into military service. World War I heroism James Grant had gained the rank of Sergeant Mechanic with No. 57 Squadron RAF when he flew as an observer/gunner from March to September 1918 in the squadron's Airco DH.4 light bombers. James Alexander Grant (31 August 1931 – 10 July 2019) was an Australian Anglican bishop who was the Dean of Melbourne from 1985 to 1999. Grant was educated at the University of Melbourne where he took a BA(Hons) in history. James Grant (January 23, 1800 – July 28, 1890) was a Scottish minister. Combining his religious skills with business skills he was also Director of Scottish Widows for 50 years (1840 to 1890) and Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1854. During his period as Moderator he was styled as Right Rev James Grant and thereafter as Very Rev James Grant. Life He was born in the manse at Portmoak on the northern edge of Loch Leven on 23 January 1800, the son of Rev Andrew Grant, minister of Portmoak. He attended the High School in Edinburgh then studied divinity at the University of Edinburgh. He was licensed as a minister by the Presbytery of Edinburgh in February 1822. In August 1824 he was ordained as minister of South Leith Parish Church in the harbour area of Edinburgh, where he stayed until 1843. James Grant (July 1706 – 3 December 1778) was a Scottish priest and bishop who served as a missionary for the illegal and underground Catholic Church in Scotland upon the Isle of Barra and later as the vicar apostolic of the Lowland District. Life Born in Wester Boggs, Enzie, Banffshire in July 1706, he entered the Scots College Rome on 16 January 1726 and took the mission oath on 25 July 1725. James Grant (born 22 November 1963) is a Scottish musician, singer, and songwriter. He grew up in Glasgow's Castlemilk district and still resides in the city. Friends Again James Grant's music career began in 1982 as songwriter and guitarist in the new wave band Friends Again, alongside Chris Thomson, later of the Bathers. The group had minor hit singles with "State of Art", "Sunkissed" and "Honey at the Core". They released a self-titled EP in 1983 which reached No. 59 in the UK and then recorded their debut album, ''Trapped & Unwrapped'', in 1984. James Edward Grant (July 2, 1905 – February 19, 1966) was an American short-story writer, screenwriter, and film director, who contributed to more than 50 films between 1935 and 1971. He collaborated with John Wayne on 12 projects, starting with '' Angel and the Badman'' (which he also directed) in 1947 through '' Circus World'' in 1964.
