Johannes Guter
Johannes Guter (born Jānis Gūters; 25 April 1882 – 18 March 1962) was a Latvians, Latvian-born German filmmaker, screenwriter, and occasional film producer. Although most of his work is now lost, he is considered a pioneer of German silent cinema and expressionism. Film career Born in Riga, Governorate of Livonia, Russian Empire, Guter was educated at the Technical University in his home city and made a name for himself as a budding theatrical actor. After the Russian Revolution of 1905, he fled to Berlin in Germany, only to be arrested for the murder of a police officer when he returned to his homeland in 1907. In 1908, after bail was posted, he fled again before his trial, this time settling in Vienna. By 1910 he had directed his first play in Vienna, before moving to Frankfurt where he worked at the New Theatre as a director. Erna Morena
Erna Morena (born Ernestine Maria Fuchs, 24 April 1885 – 20 July 1962) was a German film actress, film producer, and screenwriter of the silent film, silent era. She appeared in 104 films between 1913 and 1951. Biography Ernestine Maria Fuchs was born into the middle-class family of Eugenie Fuchs (née. Seyler, 1862–1951) and Friedrich Fuchs (1859–1895) on 24 April 1885. She had a younger brother, Friedrich Fuchs (1890–1948), who became a Clemens Brentano, Brentano researcher. Fuchs went to Munich at age 17 to attend the school of applied arts. She later spent half a year in Paris before moving to Berlin in 1909, where she worked as a nurse. She took lessons at the drama school of the German Theater in Berlin, and was hired by Max Reinhardt in 1910 as an actress. The following year she worked there in small roles, and began using the stage name Erna Morena. Heinrich Gotho (May 3, 1872 – August 28, 1938) was an Austrian film actor. Born in Dolina (now in Ukraine), he started his acting career at some provincial theatres until he found an engagement at the Neues Volkstheater in Berlin. The character actor appeared in over 50 films between 1922 and 1933, mostly in smaller roles. He notably appeared in numerous films by director Fritz Lang, among them '' Dr. Mabuse the Gambler'' (1922), ''Metropolis'' (1927) and '' M'' (1931). Gotho was forced to retire from film acting in 1933; as a Jew he could no longer work in Nazi Germany. He died in 1938 in the ''Jewish Hospital'' of Berlin-Wedding. Paul Otto Schlesinger (8 February 1878 – 25 or 30 November 1943) was a German film actor and director. Born in Berlin, he began a qualification as a retail merchant and made his actor's debut at the age of 17. Otto worked at Theaters in Halle, Wiesbaden and Hanover before he returned to Berlin about 1906. He first appeared in the silent film ''Ringkampf Konkurrenz'' in 1910 and in ''Arsène Lupin contra Sherlock Holmes'' (1910-11, five episode film serial) next to Viggo Larsen. In 1912 Otto directed his first own film ''Selbstgerichtet''. In the beginning of the 1930s he also appeared in successful Sound movies like '' Der Hauptmann von Köpenick''.
