Grafing–Wasserburg Railway
The Grafing–Wasserburg railway is a 29.1 km long, wholly single-track branch line in Upper Bavaria. It was partly built between 1899 and 1905. It is also called the Filzenexpress, which refers to the former raised bog (known in Bavarian language, Bavarian as ''Filz'')) it crosses in the Ebrach (Attel), Ebrach valley. A six-kilometer section at the western end from Grafing station to the town of Ebersberg is electrified as part of S4 (Munich), line S 4 of the Munich S-Bahn. It is also, along with the rest of the line to Wasserburg (Inn) Bahnhof (the name of the village where the station—''Bahnhof'' in German language, German—is located, which is outside the town of Wasserburg am Inn, Wasserburg), served by regional services of the SüdostBayernBahn. Upper Bavaria
Upper Bavaria (, ; ) is one of the seven administrative regions of Bavaria, Germany. Geography Upper Bavaria is located in the southern portion of Bavaria, and is centered on the city of Munich, both state capital and seat of the district government. The Bundesstraße 304 is a German federal highway that runs from Dachau north of Munich through the Bavarian capital via Ebersberg, Wasserburg am Inn and Traunstein to Freilassing on the border with Austria, near Salzburg. History Today's Bundesstraße 304 roughly follows the route of the old salt road, which led from Salzburg and Bad Reichenhall via Wasserburg am Inn, in the direction of Munich and on to Augsburg, and which was used to transport goods. Grafing bei München (officially: Grafing b.München) is a town in the district of Ebersberg, Upper Bavaria, Germany. Geography Grafing is in the Munich Region, about southeast of the state capital, where the Urtelbach and Wieshamer Bach both empty into the Attel River. The distance is roughly the same to Rosenheim and Wasserburg am Inn. Nearby municipalities are the district capital Ebersberg about to the north, Glonn and Kirchseeon. Line S4 is a line on the Munich S-Bahn network. It is operated by DB Regio Bayern. It runs from Geltendorf station to Ebersberg station via Pasing station, Pasing, central Munich, Munich East station, Munich East and Grafing station. The line is operated at 20-minute intervals between Grafrath or Buchenau and Grafing station. Two out of three trains an hour continue from Buchenau to Geltendorf and from Grafing station to Ebersberg, so that the gap between trains alternates between 20 and 40 minutes. Ebersberg is the seat of the similarly named Ebersberg '' Landkreis'' (district) in the Oberbayern ''Regierungsbezirk'' (administrative region) in Bavaria, southern Germany.
