The Government of the Republic of Slovenia () exercises executive (government), executive authority in Slovenia pursuant to the Constitution of Slovenia, Constitution and the laws of Slovenia. It is also the highest administrative authority in Slovenia. The government carries out the country's domestic and foreign policy, shaped by the National Assembly (Slovenia), National Assembly; it directs and coordinates the work of government institutions and bears full responsibility for everything occurring within the authority of executive power. The executive branch is the part of government which executes or enforces the law. Function The scope of executive power varies greatly depending on the political context in which it emerges, and it can change over time in a given country. In democratic countries, the executive often exercises broad influence over national politics, though limitations are often applied to the executive. In political systems based on the separation of powers, government authority is distributed between several branches to prevent power from being concentrated in the hands of a single person or group. The 8th Government of Slovenia led by Prime Minister Janez Janša was announced on 3 December 2004. The government was formed after the 2004 Slovenian parliamentary election. It was the first government of Janez Janša, and third centre-right government in the history of the Republic of Slovenia. Slovenian Democratic Party won on the elections 29% of the votes and so became the strongest parliamentary party in the National Assembly. The party nominated Janez Janša as the candidate for the mandatary, who was confirmed by the president Janez Drnovšek. It was one of the most stable governments of Slovenia, which ruled in the times of the greatest economical boom. Danijel Bešič Loredan
Danijel Bešič Loredan (born 18 May 1973) is a Slovenian orthopedic surgeon and politician. He served as the deputy prime minister and minister of health of Slovenia in the cabinet of Robert Golob between 2022 and 2023. Early life and career Loredan was born in Koper, Slovenia on May 18, 1973. After his education, he worked at the Ljubljana University Medical Centre. While serving there, he worked as a specialist and later was transferred Valdoltra Orthopedic Hospital as a specialist. In 2016, he was employed at the Splošna bolnišnica Dr. Franca Derganca Nova Gorica for two years as the head of the Orthopedic department in the hospital. Luka Mesec
Luka Mesec (born 1 July 1987) is a Slovenian politician and activist who has been the leader of the eco-socialist The Left party since June 2017. Mesec was elected to the Slovenian National Assembly for the first time at the 2014 parliamentary election, and reelected at the 2018 parliamentary election. He is the coordinator of the Council of the Initiative for Democratic Socialism, Labour-Punk University, and its successor, the Institute for Labour Studies. Tanja Fajon (born 9 May 1971) is a Slovenian politician, former leader of Social Democrats, part of the Party of European Socialists and former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Slovenia. She has been serving as the minister of foreign and european affairs in the government of Prime Minister Robert Golob since 1 June 2022. Robert Golob
Robert Golob (born 23 January 1967) is a Slovenian businessman and politician, serving as Prime Minister of Slovenia and leader of the Freedom Movement since 2022. Early life and education Golob obtained his PhD in electrical engineering at the University of Ljubljana in 1994 and continued his studies as a post-doctoral Fulbright scholar in the United States, at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Freedom Movement (Slovenia)
The Freedom Movement (, GS) is a social-liberal political party in Slovenia. It was founded on 26 January 2022, as the successor of the extraparliamentary Green Actions Party (Slovene: ''Stranka Zelenih Dejanj,'' Z.DEJ), which was founded on 8 May 2021. In its first parliamentary election, the party placed first, obtaining 41 of the 90 seats in the National Assembly, which is a record for a single party in the history of independent Slovenia. 2008 Slovenian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Slovenia on 21 September 2008 to elect the 90 deputies of the National Assembly (Slovenia), National Assembly. Seventeen parties filed to run in the election, including all nine parliamentary parties. A plurality of seats was won by the Social Democrats (Slovenia), Social Democrats, which subsequently formed a coalition government together with Zares, the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia, and the Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia.
