The University was approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as the 2nd State University in Gombe State, making it the 46th State University, 86th Public University and 154th University in Nigeria. Gombe State Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya signed a historic MoU with Lincoln University College of Malaysia to activate and upgrade the State's University of Science and Technology, Kumo as a centre of academic excellence in March 2022. National Universities Commission
The National Universities Commission (NUC) is a government commission for promoting quality higher education in Nigeria. Situated in Abuja, it was established in 1962 as an advisory agency in the cabinet office. In 1974, it became a statutory body and its first executive secretary was professor Jibril Aminu. NUC is currently part of the Federal Ministry of Education and is a parastatal (government-owned corporation). Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya (born October 9, 1961) is a Nigerian businessman and politician. He is the Executive Governor of Gombe State elected on 9 March 2019, under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Early life He was born on October 9, 1961 in Jekadafari, Gombe State. His father, Alhaji Yahaya Umaru, was a famous businessman. Education Yahaya attended the Central Primary School and the Government Science Secondary School in Gombe. He then studied at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1983. Career Yahaya has worked in both the public and the private sector.
