Gold (Cream Album)
''Gold'' is a two-disc compilation album by the British rock band Cream, released in 2005 to help celebrate the band's reunion at the Royal Albert Hall. It was a part of the larger Gold series. The first disc consists of twenty-one studio tracks, with the second featuring eight live tracks. The tracks come from the band's four studio albums: ''Fresh Cream'', ''Disraeli Gears'', ''Wheels of Fire'', and '' Goodbye'', as well as '' Live Cream'' and ''Live Cream Volume II'' (which were released after the band's break up). ''Gold'' was also released under the name ''I Feel Free – Ultimate Cream'', reaching No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart in May 2005. This version was available both as a two-disc release identical to ''Gold'', and as a "limited edition box set" with Cream's 2003 '' BBC Sessions'' album included as a third disc. Cream (band)
Cream were a British rock supergroup formed in London in 1966. The group consisted of bassist Jack Bruce, guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker. Bruce was the primary songwriter and vocalist, although Clapton and Baker contributed to songs. Formed by members of previously successful bands, they are widely considered the first supergroup. Cream were highly regarded for the instrumental proficiency of each of their members. During their brief three-year career, the band released four albums: '' Fresh Cream'' (1966), '' Disraeli Gears'' (1967), '' Wheels of Fire'' (1968), and '' Goodbye'' (1969). The Official Albums Chart is the United Kingdom's industry-recognised national record chart for album, albums. Entries are ranked by sales and audio streaming. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on ''UKChartsPlus'' as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. Sunshine Of Your Love
"Sunshine of Your Love" is a 1967 song by the British rock band Cream. With elements of hard rock and psychedelia, it is one of Cream's best known and most popular songs. Cream bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce based it on a distinctive bass riff he developed after attending a Jimi Hendrix concert. Guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton and lyricist Pete Brown later contributed to the song and drummer Ginger Baker plays a distinctive tom-tom drum rhythm. The song is sung as a duet with Bruce and Clapton trading the lead from line to line. The song was included on Cream's best-selling second album '' Disraeli Gears'' in November 1967. Gail Collins Pappalardi
Gail Delta Collins (February 2, 1941 – December 6, 2013) was an American songwriter, record producer, and visual artist. She was convicted of criminally negligent homicide in the 1983 killing of her husband Felix Pappalardi. Biography Collins married Felix Pappalardi on May 30, 1969. She came to prominence (as 'Miss Gail Collins') co-producing, with Pappalardi, the self-titled debut album by Energy, a group featuring Corky Laing. She also co-produced, with Pappalardi, the ''Felix Pappalardi and Creation'' album in 1976. Felix Albert Pappalardi Jr. (December 30, 1939 – April 17, 1983) was an American music producer, songwriter, vocalist, and bass violin, bassist. He is best known as the bassist and co-lead vocalist of the band Mountain (band), Mountain, whose song "Mississippi Queen" peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and became a classic rock radio staple. Eric Patrick Clapton (born 1945) is an English Rock music, rock and blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He is regarded as one of the most successful and influential guitarists in rock music. Skip James
Nehemiah Curtis "Skip" James (June 9, 1902October 3, 1969) was an American Delta blues singer, guitarist, pianist and songwriter. AllMusic stated: "Coupling an oddball guitar tuning set against eerie, falsetto vocals, James' early recordings could make the hair stand up on the back of your neck." His guitar playing is noted for its dark, minor-key sound, played in an open D-minor tuning with an intricate fingerpicking technique. James first recorded for Paramount Records in 1931, but these recordings sold poorly, having been released during the Great Depression, and he drifted into obscurity. After a long absence from the public eye, James was rediscovered in 1964 by blues enthusiasts including John Fahey, helping further the blues and folk music revival of the 1950s and early 1960s. I'm So Glad
"I'm So Glad" is a Delta blues-style song originally recorded by American musician Skip James in 1931. Blues historian Gerard Herzhaft notes "This spiritual probably dates back to the beginning of the blues". Blues writer Stephen Calt describes it as "a Two-Step piece marked by fiendishly fast playing nan eight bar arrangement single measures." Calt also adds the song is not related to an earlier Lonnie Johnson tune with a similar title. Paramount Records released James' "I'm So Glad" on the then-standard 10-inch 78rpm shellac phonograph record in 1931. It is included on various compilations as well as ''Hard Time Killing' Floor'' (2005), a CD collecting all of James's known recordings, issued by Yazoo Records. Janet Godfrey
Janet Godfrey is a British songwriter, known for being the first wife and occasional writing partner of bassist Jack Bruce. Early career Godfrey was the secretary of the fan club for the Graham Bond Organisation, a band that had started in 1963, with Ginger Baker on drums. Jack Bruce was the bassist in the band, and Godfrey teamed with Bruce to write "Baby Make Love To Me" and "Baby Be Good To Me". Godfrey and Bruce were engaged to be married when Marvin Gaye asked Bruce to join him in the US. Bruce declined because of his upcoming marriage. Following this, Bruce and Baker fought on stage, and Bruce left the Bond group. He gigged with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers for a bit and then joined Manfred Mann, a more successful group named after its organist. Ginger Baker
Peter Edward "Ginger" Baker (19 August 1939 – 6 October 2019) was an English drummer.
