Goa Football Association ( GFA; pt, Associação de Futebol de Goa) is the state governing body of football in Goa within the jurisdiction of the Republic of India. It is affiliated with the All India Football Federation, the national governing body. Caitano Fernandes heads GFA as its current President. The competition is established in 2023, with the first season starting from 2024. Panjim Footballers Club, or simply known as Panjim Footballers, is an Indian professional football club based in Panjim, Goa, that competes in the Goa Professional League. It's women's team previously participated in the Indian Women's League, and currently participates in GFA Vedanta Women's League. History Established in 1978 as an small city club, Panjim Footballers started playing in inter-village tournaments and GFA age-group tournaments and won many small tournaments. Women's football in India is growing in popularity under All India Football Federation, despite the earlier long-term governing body's inability to provide sufficient funds for the game. History Women's football has not had the relative advantage in the sport unlike the men's game, and also has not become as prevalent in the country as its male counterpart. The game was administered by the Women's Football Federation of India (WFFI) from 1975 until the early 1990s, when they were absorbed into the AIFF.
