''Go West Young Man'' is the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Michael W. Smith, released on October 1, 1990, through Reunion. This record was his first attempt at mainstream success. It was successful, as it scored a ''Billboard'' Hot 100 top ten hit with "Place in This World", which peaked at number 6 on the ''Billboard Hot'' 100 chart in 1991. Background Michael W. Smith most notably performed "Place in This World", which peaked at number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on ''Cash Box'' (#5 AC), and "For You" on various shows, for example ''The Arsenio Hall Show'', to promote the album. Terry Lee McMillan (October 12, 1953 – February 2, 2007) was an American country music singer, harmonica player, and percussionist. In 1973, he became a member of Eddy Raven's band in Nashville, and worked with Raven until 1974. McMillan then started working with Chet Atkins, playing harmonica with his touring show. Paul William Leim (born December 29, 1950) is an American drummer and recording session musician based in Nashville. Biography Leim was born in Port Huron, Michigan and raised in Troup, Texas. He was inspired to take up drumming as a child after hearing the recording of "Skin Deep" by Duke Ellington and his Orchestra featuring Louie Bellson on drums. Fretless Bass
A fretless bass is an electric bass guitar whose neck lacks frets and thus is smooth like traditional string instruments, and like the neck of an acoustic double bass. While the fretless bass is played in all styles of music, it is most common in pop, rock, and jazz. It first saw widespread use during the 1970s, although some players used them before then. The Fender Precision Bass was introduced in 1951, with frets to help performers find the proper note (''i.e.'' to provide ''precision'').
