Luigi Mosca (1775 – 30 November 1824) was an Italian composer of operas and sacred music and a noted singing teacher. He composed eighteen operas, most of which were originally for theatres in Naples, but played throughout Italy in their day. Joseph Schuster (composer)
Joseph Schuster (11 August 174824 July 1812) was a German composer. Life and career Schuster was born in Dresden, where he received his first musical training from his father, a court musician, and from Johann Georg Schürer. Thanks to a scholarship from the Saxon Prince-electors, he was able to study with Giovanni Battista Martini and counterpoint in Venice with G. Pera from 1765 to 1768. In 1776 he completed his first opera seria ''Didone abbandonata,'' after a libretto by Metastasio. It was given at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and by all accounts a great success. In the same year, the opera seria ''Demofoonte'' premiered in Forlì. In the following years, Schuster's position was solidified with operatic successes in Naples and Venice. He was also recognized in Germany as an accomplished composer and his ''singspiel,'' '' Der Alchymist, oder Der Liebesteufel'' is considered one of the finest examples of the art form. Antonio Casimir Cartellieri (27 September 1772 – 2 September 1807) was a Polish-Austrian composer, violinist, conductor, and voice teacher. His reputation dissipated after his death, not to be resurrected until the late 20th century. One son was the spa physician Paul Cartellieri. Another, Josef Cartellieri, compiled some largely second-hand biographical notes about the father he scarcely knew. Life and career Cartellieri was born in Danzig. Ridolfo Luigi Boccherini (, also , ; 19 February 1743 – 28 May 1805) was an Italian composer and cellist of the Classical era whose music retained a courtly and '' galante'' style even while he matured somewhat apart from the major classical musical centers. He is best known for a minuet from his String Quintet in E, Op. 11, No. 5 ( G 275), and the Cello Concerto in B flat major (G 482).
