Ghana A' National Football Team
The Ghana A' national football team is the local national football team of Ghana and is open only to indigenous domestic league players. The team represents Ghana at the WAFU Nations Cup and the African Nations Championship and is controlled by the Ghana Football Association. Previously known as the Local Black Stars, the team is known as the ''Black Galaxies''. The Local Black Stars came second at the 2009 African Nations Championship, at the 2014 edition hosted in South Africa, Ghana reached the final again but lost in a penalty shoot-out to the Libya. They have also appeared at the WAFU Nations Cup 4 times, hosting the tournament twice and winning the on both occasions in 2013 WAFU Nations Cup, 2013 and 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations, 2017. African Nations Championship
The African Nations Championship, known for sponsorship purposes as the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship and commonly abbreviated as CHAN, is a biennial African association football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) since 2009 and first announced in September 2007. The participating teams must consist of players playing in their national league competitions. The DR Congo and Morocco are the most successful teams in this tournament with two titles each, followed by Tunisia, Libya and incumbent champions Senegal with one title each. The tournament began life in 2009 with 8 teams, which was doubled for the 2nd edition up until the 6th and is currently contested by 18 teams since the 2022 edition. The Ghana national football team represents Ghana in men's international Association football, football. The team is named the Black Stars after the Black Star of Africa in the flag of Ghana. The 2024 African Nations Championship, known as the 2024 CHAN for short and the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship for Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship purposes, is scheduled to be the 8th edition of the biennial association football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), featuring national teams consisting of players currently playing in their respective local leagues.
