Germany's Most Beautiful Railways
''Die Schönsten Bahnstrecken Deutschlands'' (''Germany's Most Beautiful Railways'') was a regular night-time feature on Germany's ARD television channel which ran from 3 September 1995 to 28 October 2013. The programme was a real-time, mostly uninterrupted, recording of railway journeys as viewed from the driver's cab. There was no commentary or music, but the sounds of the recording were retained for broadcast. Small interruptions did occur if the train was traversing a tunnel or sat at a station, usually cutting away to view some of the cab's controls. The camera did not pan to take in scenery, being fixed in the forward position for the duration of the journey. External shots of the train and the station building, and occasionally the wider town, were included at the route termini. A simple map of the route was displayed on screen at the beginning of the programme, and whilst the train was stationary in a station, the name of that station was also displayed. No supplementar ...

Brig Railway Station
Brig railway station is an important railway junction in the municipality of Brig-Glis ( French: ''Brigue-Glis''), in the Canton of Valais, Switzerland. Opened in 1878, it is adjacent to the northern portal of the Simplon Tunnel and is served by two standard gauge lines. Another two metre gauge lines serve the physically adjacent Brig Bahnhofplatz railway station. History Service to Brig began on 18 June 1878; it was at that time the eastern terminus of the Simplon Railway. The opening of the Simplon Tunnel in 1906 extended the Simplon Railway southeast to Domodossola, in Italy. Brig's other standard gauge line, the Lötschberg railway line, opened in 1913. ''London to Brighton in Four Minutes'' is a short film produced by the BBC Film Unit in the early 1950s showing a train journey from London Victoria to Brighton railway station, Brighton in England. The camera was manually undercranking, undercranked to produce a fast motion film so that the journey lasted only four minutes instead of the actual time of about one hour. It was originally shown on BBC Television's ''Children's Newsreel'' and over the years its frequent repeat transmissions became very popular with British television viewers of all ages. Later versions were produced, particularly in 1983 and 2013, showing some of the cultural and operational changes that had taken place.
