Gerhard "Gerd" Müller (; 3 November 1945 – 15 August 2021) was a German professional association football, footballer. A prolific Forward (association football)#Striker, striker, especially in and around the six-yard box, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalscorers and players in the history of the sport. With success at club and international level, he is one of nine players to have won the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the Ballon d'Or. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) is a chronic upper gastrointestinal disease in which stomach content persistently and regularly flows up into the esophagus, resulting in symptoms and/or complications. Symptoms include dental corrosion, dysphagia, heartburn, odynophagia, regurgitation, non-cardiac chest pain, extraesophageal symptoms such as chronic cough, hoarseness, reflux-induced laryngitis, or asthma. In the long term, and when not treated, complications such as esophagitis, esophageal stricture, and Barrett's esophagus may arise. Risk factors include obesity, pregnancy, smoking, hiatal hernia, and taking certain medications. Medications that may cause or worsen the disease include benzodiazepines, calcium channel blockers, tricyclic antidepressants, NSAIDs, and certain asthma medicines. Gerhard "Gerd" Müller (born 25 August 1955) is a German politician of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria, who is currently serving as Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization since 2021. He was German Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development from 2013 to 2021. From 1994 until 2021, Müller represented Oberallgäu in the Bundestag. Political career Müller was chairman of the 's Bavarian section from 1987 until 1991. In this position, his calls in favour of capital punishment for drug dealers caused significant controversy. Between 1989 and 1994, Müller was a Member of the European Parliament, where he served on the Committee on Transport and Tourism and on the Joint Assembly of the Agreement between the African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Economic Community (ACP-EEC). The Gerd Müller Trophy, previously known as Striker of the Year or Best Striker Award in its first edition, is a football award presented annually by ''France Football'' to the highest-scoring footballer in the previous season, taking into account goals scored for both European clubs and national teams. It was established in 2021, taking into account that calendar year (while, from the second edition, the award is based on the number of goals scored throughout a season). Starting with the second edition in 2022, the award was renamed after German striker Gerd Müller who died in August 2021. The inaugural winner was Polish striker Robert Lewandowski; he won the first edition in 2021 by scoring 64 goals over the year and then repeated a year later, having scored 57 goals in 56 appearances over the 2021–22 season. Gerard Gustaaf Muller (20 January 1861 – 26 March 1929) was a Dutch Impressionism, Impressionist painter associated with the 19th-century Dutch literature#The Movement of 1880, Tachtigers literary movement. His later works show elements of Orientalism. Biography His father, Johan Werner Anton Muller, was a ship owner. He had two older brothers; Hendrik (1855-1927), a writer, and , an architect.
