National Invitation Tournament
The National Invitation Tournament (NIT) is an annual men's college basketball tournament operated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Since 2023, all rounds of the tournament are played at various sites across the country which are selected annually. From its founding in 1938 to 2022, the semifinals and finals were always played at Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City. Predating the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament by one year, the NIT was considered the most prestigious post-season showcase for college basketball before its status was superseded in the mid-1950s by the NCAA tournament. A second, much more recent "NIT" tournament is played in November and known as the NIT Season Tip-Off. Perry Warbington
Perry Lee Warbington (September 7, 1952 – November 9, 2008) was an American professional basketball player. He played for the Philadelphia 76ers in the beginning part of the 1974–75 NBA season after being selected 145th overall by them in the 1974 NBA draft. University After spending two years at Florida Gateway College, he played for two seasons with the Eagles of Georgia Southern University, where he averaged 20.8 points per game. Professional Warbington was chosen 145th in the 1974 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, with whom he played 5 games, in which he averaged 2.0 points and 3.2 assists. Jeff Sanders
Jeffery Raynard Sanders (born January 14, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the first round (20th pick overall) of the 1989 NBA draft. Sanders played for the Bulls, Charlotte Hornets and Atlanta Hawks in four NBA seasons. In his NBA career, he appeared in 55 games and scored a total of 112 points. He played collegiately at Georgia Southern University. He also played for Fenerbahçe and Kombassan Konyaspor in Turkey. Michael Curry (basketball)
Michael Edward Curry (born August 22, 1968) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. He was most recently an assistant coach for the Vanderbilt Commodores. Curry played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1993 to 2005. He later served as head coach of the Detroit Pistons. College career A 6'5" guard/ forward from Glenn Hills High School in Augusta, Georgia, Curry played four seasons at Georgia Southern University. With the Eagles, he averaged 9.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists over his four-year collegiate career. College Basketball Invitational
The College Basketball Invitational (CBI) is a men's college basketball tournament created in 2007 by The Gazelle Group. The inaugural tournament occurred after the conclusion of the 2007–08 men's college basketball regular season. The CBI selects sixteen teams that are not selected for the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament or the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), and who are willing to pay a $27,500 entry fee to participate. In the CBI, prior to 2020 teams competed on home courts. After the post-COVID pandemic revival, the tournament has been staged at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
