Georg Rosen (1821–1891)
Georg Friedrich Wilhelm Rosen (Born Ballhorn; 24 September 1820 in Detmold, Principality of Lippe – 29 October 1891 in Detmold) was a German (Lippe/Prussian) orientalist and diplomat. Biography He studied in Berlin and Leipzig. From 1844, he was a dragoman at the Prussian embassy in Constantinople. From 1853 he was the Prussian consul in Jerusalem. From 1867 he was Consul General of the North German Confederation (from 1871, the German Empire) in Belgrade. In 1875, Rosen returned to Detmold, where, in May 1907, the Rosenstraße was named in his honor. Rosen was a friend of E. A. Wallis Budge. Georg Rosen (1895–1961)
George Rosen (14 September 1895, Shirvan, Iran – 22 July 1961 in Detmold) was a Rhodes Scholar, German lawyer and diplomat, best known for his assistance in helping to organize the Nanking Safety Zone during the Second Sino-Japanese War, while working for the German Foreign Office."Quarantäne Aufgehoben", Der Spiegel online über einen Spiegel-Artikel (15/1969) Vol.7. Georg Von Rosen
Johan Georg Otto von Rosen (13 February 1843 – 3 March 1923) was a Swedish painter and ''greve'' (count). He specialized in history paintings and portraits, done in the Academic style. Biography He was born in Paris. When he was barely five, his family returned to Sweden as a result of the French Revolution of 1848. His father was the Consul General, Adolf Eugène von Rosen (1797–1886) who worked for public and state authorities with Swedish railway construction. From 1855 to 1861, he studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. After graduating, he visited London to see the 1862 International Exhibition, where he was influenced by the paintings on Medieval and Renaissance subjects created by Hendrik Leys. He later remarked that when he left London he was "300 years older". The following year, he spent some time at Leys' studio in Antwerp.
