Gareth Owen, (4 October 1922 – 4 May 2002) was a Welsh zoologist and academic. He was Principal of the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth from 1979 to 1989 and additionally Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wales from 1985 to 1987. Gareth Owen (born 21 October 1971) is a Welsh former footballer, who played as a midfielder for various English and Welsh clubs between 1989 and 2011. He is currently the manager of Wrexham AFC Women Under 19s. Career Owen spent twelve years as a professional at Wrexham, and was rewarded by a testimonial match against Manchester United in 2000 which drew a crowd of 13,000 to the Racecourse Ground. He then spent two years at Doncaster Rovers before moving to Connah's Quay Nomads. He joined Airbus UK Broughton in August 2005 as Player-Manager. In July 2008 he moved to Rhyl on a one-year deal to play under his former assistant manager at Airbus, Allan Bickerstaff. In May 2009 he was named as the Welsh Premier League's Player of the Season. Gareth David Owen (born 21 September 1982) is an English-born Welsh former footballer, now working as academy director with Stoke City. A defender, he represented Wales at under-19 level. He began his career at Stoke City, signing as a professional in August 2001. He made his first team debut in the 2003–04 season, also spending time on loan at Oldham Athletic. He spent part of 2004–05 on loan at Torquay United, before returning on loan at Oldham. His loan deal was made permanent in the summer for a £50,000 fee, though he did not find success in the 2005–06 campaign. He spent the 2006–07 season on loan at Stockport County, and was voted the club's Player of the Season, after which he joined Stockport permanently, and was installed as club captain. Gareth Owen is a British classical pianist. He is the head of piano at Eton College and a professor of piano at several other musical institutions in England. Education and career Born in Dyffryn Ardudwy in North Wales, Owen studied at Chetham's School of Music with Polish musician Alicja Fiderkiewicz, and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with concert pianist Joan Havill. At the Guildhall School, Owen won the Leszeck Dessnet Chopin Prize for his outstanding performance, and the Premier Prix at his graduation in 2000. He later attended the Verbier Academy in Switzerland. Owen has performed both as a chamber musician and soloist, most notably at London's Wigmore Hall and the Mozart Hall in Zaragoza. Gareth Owen (born 5 November 1988 in Bridgend, Wales) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays at Centre, Fullback and Flyhalf. He currently plays for Newcastle Falcons in England's second division, the RFU Championship. Career Owen started his domestic club rugby with Maesteg RFC where he played alongside several greats such as Alan Bateman, Kevin Ellis and Jonathan Davies. The Birmingham Arts Laboratory or Arts Lab was an experimental arts centre and artist collective based in Birmingham, England from 1968 to 1982 – an "arts and performance space dedicated to radical research into art and creativity". Loosely organised and biased towards the obscure and avant-garde, it was described by ''The Guardian'' in 1997 as "one of the emblematic institutions of the 1960s". The Arts Lab was originally based in a run-down youth centre run by The Birmingham Settlement on Tower Street in Newtown on the northern edge of Birmingham City Centre, and was accessible from the street only via a metal fire escape. It moved to a former brewery on Holt Street in Gosta Green in 1977, before financial problems and pressure from the arts establishment forced it to amalgamate with and take over Aston University's Centre for the Arts on Gosta Green to form the more conventional Triangle Arts Centre in 1982.
