Gammel Skovgård, Gentofte Municipality
Gammel Skovgård is a former country house in Gentofte Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was originally located at the site where Skovgård School in Ordrup is now located but moved to its current site at Krathusvej 36 when the school was built in the 1950s. History Origins Peter von Scholten purchased an estate in Ordrup for use as a country house in around 1811. The building now known as Gammel Skovgaard was constructed for him in around 1820. Puggaard family In 1831 it was acquired by the merchant Hans Puggaard who spent the summers there with his painter wife Bolette. Their visitors included many leading artists of the Danish Golden Age, including C. W. Eckersberg, Vilhelm Marstrand, Bertel Thorvaldsen, Michael Gottlieb Bindesbøll and Herman Wilhelm Bissen. Ordrup
Ordrup is a district of Gentofte Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located circa north of the city centre. History Ordrup was originally a small village which only consisted of eight farms and a forge. The area became a popular destination for excursions for citizens from Copenhagen in the 17th century. The farmers supplemented their income by harvesting peat that was sold on the market in Copenhagen. Ordrup came under Bernstorff Palace in the 1760s after Foreign Minister Johann Hartwig Ernst von Bernstorff had received the entire area from Christian V of Denmark, Christian V as a gift. Bernstorff was a driving force behind the agricultural reforms of the time. A detailed map of the land was drawn up. The land was divided into lots. A draw which took place at Bernstorff Palace on 1 September 1765 distributed the lots among the local farmers. Margrethe Vullum
Margrethe Vullum (born Lehmann; first married name Rode; 14 February 1846 – 14 August 1918) was a Danish-born Norwegian journalist, literary critic and proponent for women's rights. Personal life She was born in Copenhagen, a daughter of statesman Orla Lehmann and his artist wife Maria Puggaard, who had died young. She was thus a grand-daughter of the wealthy merchant and shipowner Hans Puggaard and his painter wife Bolette Puggaard. Her first marriage was with teacher and writer Gotfred Rode, with whom she had two sons, the politician Ove Rode and the writer Helge Rode. In 1879 she married journalist Erik Vullum. Career Vullum settled in Norway in 1879, became a journalist for the newspaper ''Dagbladet'', and later for ''Verdens Gang''. She was a pioneering female voice in the public debates of the time. Mogens Lassen
Mogens Lassen (20 February 1901 – 14 December 1987) was a Modernist Danish architect and designer, working within the idiom of the International Style. He mainly designed residential buildings, both in the form of single-family houses and apartment blocks. He was the brother of Flemming Lassen, also an architect. Biography Mogens Lassen was born on 20 February 1901 in Copenhagen into an artistic family. His father Hans Vilhelm Lassen was a decorative painter and his mother, Ingeborg Winding, was a painter. He trained as a mason before being admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1923, but underwent further architectural training at various practices in Copenhagen, particularly with Tyge Hvass from 1925 to 1934. Hegnslund, formerly Tipperary, is the former summer residence of Gyldendal CEO Frederik Hegel at Springforbi, between Taarbæk and Strandmøllen, Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, some 15 km north of centra Copenhagen, Denmark. The house was built in 1914–15 to a design by Henning Hansen and with interior decorations by Valdemar Andersen. A 1995 revision of the so-called Springforbi Plan from the 1930s listed Hegnslund as one of 12 buildings in the otherwise open green belt not intended for demolition. Frederik Hegel
Frederik Vilhelm Hegel (11 May 1817 – 27 December 1887) was a Danish bookseller and publisher. He was born in Fredensborg. He started working for the bookstore Gyldendal, Gyldendalske Boghandel at the age of fifteen, and took over the company in 1850. Under his leadership Gyldendal published many of the most important Norwegian writers, including Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, Bjørnson, Henrik Ibsen, Ibsen, Alexander L.
