Galicia National Football Team
The Galicia national football team is the official football team of Galicia. It is organised by the Galician Football Federation. The team is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA and is, therefore, only allowed to play friendly matches. History Early years The first game of the Galician national football team took place on 19 November 1922 in Coia, Vigo, beating the Centro team (which encompassed Madrid and the wider Castile region) 41 in the quarter-finals of the 192223 Copa del Príncipe de Asturias, an official inter-regional tournament organized by RFEF;– This was at a time when there was no national club championship per se, Galician teams would play each other in the Galician Championship and the winner would then go on to face the other regional champions in the Copa del Rey. Royal Galician Football Federation
The Royal Galician Football Federation (, ; RFGF) is the governing body of the sport of football in Galicia. The RFGF organises Group 1 of the Tercera Federación, with the assistance of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), as part of the Spanish football league system. It also organises the Copa Galiza and regional divisions of Galicia independently from the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The RFGF, which also administered the Championship of Galicia (a regional league competition whose best teams qualified for the Copa del Rey) until the end of the 1930s, was founded in 1909 and is based in A Coruña. Balbino Clemente
Balbino Clemente Núñez (6 September 1896 – 28 March 1941), better known as Balbino, was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder. He was part of the first-ever team fielded by Celta de Vigo in 1923. His brother Juanito was also a footballer. Club career Born in Vedra, Galicia, he spent most of his career at his hometown club Fortuna de Vigo, playing for them until it was merged with Real Vigo Sporting in 1923, to form Celta de Vigo. The presentation match of this new team was held at Coia on 16 September 1923, in a meeting between an A and a B team formed with the players from the club, taking advantage of the large team available that they had. Balbino played for the B side that was captained by his brother Juanito, in a 0-2 loss to the A team captained by Luis Otero. Asturias Autonomous Football Team
The Asturias autonomous football team is the regional football team for Asturias. They are not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA, because it is represented internationally by the Spain national football team. The team only plays friendlies. History Cantabric Federation The Regional Cantabric Federation of Football Clubs was founded on 9 December 1915 with the aim to represent all the clubs in the Province of Oviedo. On 22 November 1916, the Spanish Football Federation allowed the clubs of Cantabria to leave the Northern Regional Championship and join the newly created Cantabrian Regional Federation, along with clubs from Oviedo, soon to be renamed Asturias. In 1999, the Cantabrians joined forces with the Asturian clubs, and as the 'Cantabric Team', they played four official matches between 1917 and 1918, competing in the defunct Copa Príncipe de Asturias, an inter-regional competition organized by the Spanish Federation. A hat-trick or hat trick is the achievement of a generally positive feat three times in a match, or another achievement based on the number three. Origin The term first appeared in 1858 in cricket, to describe H. H. Stephenson taking three Wicket#Dismissing a batsman, wickets with three consecutive delivery (cricket), deliveries. Fans held a collection for Stephenson, and presented him with a hat bought with the proceeds. The term was used in print for the first time in 1865 in the Essex Chronicle, ''Chelmsford Chronicle''. The term was eventually adopted by many other sports including hockey, association football, Formula 1 racing, rugby, and water polo. Ferrol, Spain
Ferrol (, ) is a city in the province of A Coruña in Galicia, Spain, located in the Rías Altas, in the vicinity of Strabo's Cape Nerium (modern-day Cape Prior). Ramón González (footballer, Born 1898)
Ramón González Figueroa (16 February 1898 – 4 November 1977) was a Spanish footballer who played as a centre forward. He was a member of the Spanish squad that competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics, but did not make any appearances. Club career Born in Vigo, Galicia, he began playing football at his hometown club Deportivo Fabril in 1914, the same year the club was created. At Fabril he stood out for his goal-scoring instinct, which earned him a move to Real Club Coruña in 1917. After one season he joined Real Vigo Sporting in 1918, where he was pivotal in Sporting's back-to-back Galician Championship titles in 1918–19 and 1919–20, and one more in 1922–23. He remained with the club until 1923, when Sporting was merged with Fortuna de Vigo to form Celta de Vigo.
