A Gaelscoil (; plural: ''Gaelscoileanna'') is an Irish language-medium school in Ireland: the term refers especially to Irish-medium schools outside the Irish-speaking regions or Gaeltacht. Over 50,000 students attend Gaelscoileanna at primary and second levels on the island of Ireland. Additionally, more than 13,000 students are receiving their primary and second level education through Irish in the Gaeltacht. Gaelscoileanna and Irish-medium schools in the Gaeltacht are supported and represented by Gaeloideachas and An Chomhairle um Oideachas Gaeltachta & Gaelscolaíochta or COGG in the Republic of Ireland and by Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta in Northern Ireland. Irish (Standard Irish: ), also known as Irish Gaelic or simply Gaelic ( ), is a Celtic language of the Indo-European language family. It is a member of the Goidelic languages of the Insular Celtic sub branch of the family and is indigenous language, indigenous to the island of Ireland. Balbriggan
Balbriggan (; , ) is a suburban coastal town in Fingal, in the northern part of County Dublin, Ireland. It is approximately 34 km north of the city of Dublin, for which it is a commuter town. The 2022 census population was 24,322 for Balbriggan, making it the 17th-largest urban area in Ireland. The town formerly had an active textile industry, and was the site of a major episode in the Irish War of Independence. Etymology According to P. W. Joyce, the name arises from ''Baile Breacain'' ic which literally means "Brecan's Town". Brecan is a common medieval first name and there are several other Brackenstowns in Ireland. There is also a possible link to the local Bracken River, in which case the name could derive from ''breicín,'' meaning "little trout". Coláiste Eoin is a Catholic voluntary Gaelcholáiste (Irish language scondary school) for boys, under the trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust, in Booterstown, County Dublin, Ireland. Coláiste Ailigh
Coláiste Ailigh is a Gaelcholáiste (a secondary school offering a curriculum taught through the Irish language) in County Donegal, Ireland. Formerly located at Sprackburn House in Letterkenny, it opened in 2000, becoming the VEC's third All-Irish School. Pupils from the surrounding areas of Carrigart, Termon and Strabane also enrolled in the school. The Government of Ireland allowed it to build a new school in 2008; this was completed by November 2013. It includes a gym, sport hall, cafeteria and full-sized Gaelic football pitch. Built to hold 35 students, the school currently has about 27 students. Its principal is Micheál Ó Giobúin. In 2007 the school received a €20 prize for PE equipment at the active School Awards held in The Helix in Dublin. Tuairisc.ie is an online Irish language newspaper. The company's offices are in Bearna, Co. Galway, in the west of Ireland. Tuairisc.ie receives state funding through Foras na Gaeilge. History Tuairisc Bheo Teoranta won a competition run by Foras na Gaeilge to provide an Irish language news-service on-line in 2014. The offices of the newspaper were set up in Bearna in County Galway because it was the only area in the Conamara Gaeltacht that had access to highspeed broadband. Maynooth (; ) is a university town in north County Kildare, Ireland. Knocknaheeny () is a working class suburb of Cork city, Ireland. It is on a hill about 2 km north of the city centre. Dungiven Castle is a 19th century castle in Dungiven, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Plantation of Ulster In 1610 James I ordered the Great Twelve Livery Companies to undertake the settlement, or plantation, of the Ulster counties of Londonderry and Tyrone.
