Frank Andrew Parker (born Franciszek Andrzej Pajkowski, January 31, 1916 – July 24, 1997) was an amateur & later professional American male tennis player of Polish immigrant parents who was active in the 1930s and 1940s. He won four Grand Slam singles titles as well as three doubles titles. Early life Parker was born on January 31, 1916, in Milwaukee as Franciszek Andrzej Pajkowski and had three brothers and a sister. Franciszek changed his name to Frank Parker when the sports announcers couldn't pronounce his Polish name. He learnt to play tennis at age 10, hitting discarded tennis balls at the Milwaukee Town Club. There he was discovered by the club coach Mercer Beasley who noticed his quickness and accuracy. Aged 12, he won his first national title, the boys' indoor championship played at the Seventh Regiment Armory in New York. Frank Russell Parker (July 1, 1939 – September 16, 2018) was an American television actor. Career Parker was best known as Shawn Brady, husband to Caroline (Peggy McCay) on ''Days of Our Lives''. He portrayed the character semi-regularly from 1983 to 2008, when he started having health issues and made the decision to leave. In order to write Parker's character out of the show, ''Days of Our Lives'' writers had Shawn die in February 2008 after giving up his oxygen mask to save his son, Bo (Peter Reckell), on a sabotaged airplane that was going down. Parker subsequently retired from acting the following month. He also had some small roles in ''Never Too Young'', ''The Young and the Restless'' and ''General Hospital.'' Other acting credits include multiple episodes of ''Lost in Space'', ''Hogan's Heroes'', ''Battlestar Galactica'', ''CHiPs'', and ''Quincy, M.E.'' Frank Parker (September 21, 1872 – March 13, 1947) was a major general in the United States Army. His awards include the Army Distinguished Service Medal, two Silver Star Citations, and numerous foreign decorations and civilian accolades. Early life Frank Parker was born September 21, 1872 in Georgetown County, South Carolina. He was descended from John Parker, Arthur Middleton, Thomas Heyward and John Rutledge. Parker attended the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He subsequently attended the United States Military Academy and graduated in 1894, after which he served in the Spanish–American War in 1898 and Puerto Rico from 1899 to 1900. The men's individual trap shooting competition was one of 15 shooting sports events on the Shooting at the 1908 Summer Olympics programme. It was held from 8 to 11 July. Each nation could enter up to 12 shooters.Official Report, p. 39. There were 61 competitors from 8 nations. Canada took the top two spots, with Walter Ewing earning gold and George Beattie silver. There were two bronze medals awarded after Alexander Maunder of Great Britain and Anastasios Metaxas tied for third place. The medals were the first in the event for all three nations (France had swept the medals in 1900). Ewing also received Lord Westbury's Cup as a challenge prize. History Parker was born Ernest Frank Parker in modest circumstances in Richmond, Victoria to J. W. Parker and Ellen Sophia Parker, née Bartlett (died 10 November 1923).
