Fort Worth Texans
The Fort Worth Texans were a professional ice hockey team based in Fort Worth, Texas. They started play in 1967 as the Fort Worth Wings, a minor league affiliate for the Detroit Red Wings. They were part of the Central Hockey League and played their home games at Will Rogers Coliseum. The team won their only Adams Cup Championship, in 1978 by defeating their arch rival Dallas Black Hawks 5–4 in overtime of game seven of the finals. History Beginning play in 1967, the Fort Worth Wings were a force to be reckoned with. The newest team in the Central Professional Hockey League was led by Rick McCann who scored 71 points and helped propel the Wings into the playoffs. They eventually lost in the finals. They continued to remain competitive in the following seasons, only missing the playoffs once between 1968 and 1974. Ron Ullyot
Ronald Ullyot (born April 21, 1946) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and coach. Ullyot played seven seasons with the Fort Wayne Komets of the International Hockey League (IHL), retiring as a player after the 1974–75 season with career totals of 121 goals, 123 assists, 244 points, and 279 penalty minutes in 448 regular season games played. He also played in 28 playoff contests with the Komets. Ullyot began his head coaching career in the IHL with the 1976–77 Columbus Owls. He would also serve as head coach for the Port Huron Flags, Fort Worth Texans of the Central Hockey League, the Fort Wayne Komets and the Indianapolis Checkers of the IHL before retiring from hockey following the 1986–87 IHL season. William Stewart MacMillan (born March 7, 1943) is a Canadian former hockey coach and player. MacMillan played and later coached in the National Hockey League (NHL). After several years with the Canadian national team, including playing at two World Championships and the 1968 Winter Olympics, winning a bronze medal, MacMillan made his NHL debut in 1970 with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played for Toronto, the Atlanta Flames, and New York Islanders between 1970 and 1977, and retired from playing in 1978. He became a coach during his final year, spent in the minor CHL and moved to the NHL in 1979 when he became an assistant coach for the Islanders. He was named the head coach of the Colorado Rockies in 1980, also serving as general manager the next season. Edwin Walter Chadwick (born May 8, 1933) is a Canadian retired ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins between 1955 and 1962. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1952 to 1968, was spent in various minor leagues. Playing career Chadwick started his NHL career in the 1955–56 season by playing five games for the Toronto Maple Leafs as a replacement for injured future- hall-of-famer Harry Lumley. Over the next two seasons Chadwick would play 140 consecutive regular season games, which is still a Leafs team record. However Chadwick's success in the NHL was short-lived, as his playing time dropped off and he was shipped down to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
