Forn Siðr — Ásatrú And Vanatrú Association In Denmark
The Forn Siðr — Ásatrú and Vanatrú Association in Denmark (Danish: ''Forn Siðr — Asa- og Vanetrosamfundet i Danmark'') is a Danish nationwide religious organisation of the followers of Forn Siðr (Ásatrú and Vanatrú), the contemporary revival of Norse paganism and culture. The Forn Siðr association was established on 15 November 1997. The organisation is non- proselytistic and apolitical. It was registered as a religious society by the ''Kirkeministeriet'' on 6 November 2003. This has, among other things, given the community the right to celebrate legally valid weddings for its members, and better opportunities for members to be buried under the protection of Heathen rites. In 2008, the society acquired a burial place in Odense. The Forn Siðr association holds official blóts (worship ceremonies) for all its members four to five times a year. A runestone is typically a raised stone with a runic inscription, but the term can also be applied to inscriptions on boulders and on bedrock. The tradition began in the 4th century and lasted into the 12th century, but most of the runestones date from the late Viking Age. Most runestones are located in Scandinavia, but there are also scattered runestones in locations that were visited by Norsemen during the Viking Age. Runestones are often memorials to dead men. Runestones were usually brightly coloured when erected, though this is no longer evident as the colour has worn off. The vast majority of runestones are found in Sweden. Manheim (hof)
Manheim is a heathen hof in Korinth in Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality, Denmark. The building opened in 2016 and is dedicated to the Norse gods. It is owned by the designer Jim Lyngvild. History The building was built at the instigation of the Danish designer Jim Lyngvild and is the first pagan hof in Denmark since the time of the Middle Ages. It was built in three weeks by Lyngvild and a group of friends, and was finished by the end of March 2016. The inauguration took place on 30 May 2016. Participating at the event were Lyngvild's friends Pia Kjærsgaard, Speaker of the Danish Parliament, who cut the ribbon, and Inger Støjberg, the Danish Minister for Integration, who performed the naming ceremony, naming the building Manheim () in beer. Neopaganism In Scandinavia
Modern paganism in Scandinavia is almost exclusively dominated by Germanic Heathenry, in forms and groups reviving Norse paganism. These are generally split into two streams characterised by a different approach to folk and folklore: Ásatrú, a movement that been associated with the most innovative and Edda-based approaches within Heathenry, and Forn Siðr, ''Forn Sed'' or ''Nordisk Sed'', a movement marked by being generally more traditionalist, ethnic-focused and folklore-rooted, characterised by a worldview which its proponents call ''folketro'' ("faith of the folk", "folk religion"). Heathenry, also termed Heathenism, contemporary Germanic Paganism, or Germanic Neopaganism, is a modern Pagan religion. Scholars of religious studies classify it as a new religious movement.
