Fígols () is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Berguedà in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated to the north of Cercs, in the mountains above the Llobregat valley. Deposits of lignite are extracted commercially. Nearby is the Cercs Mine Museum. Catalonia is (as of 2018) divided into 947 Municipalities of Spain, municipalities. Each municipality typically represents one significant urban settlement, of any size from village to city, with its surrounding land. This is not always the case, though. Many municipalities have merged as a result of rural depopulation or simply for greater efficiency. Llobregat
The Llobregat () is the second longest river in Catalonia, Spain, after the Ter. It flows into the Mediterranean south of the city of Barcelona. Its name could have originated in an ancient Latin word meaning 'dark', 'muddy' or 'slippery', or simply from its ancient name ''Rubricatus'', literally 'red'. Vallcebre
Vallcebre () is a municipality in the comarca of Berguedà, Catalonia. It comprises two towns: ''Vallcebre'' proper, and the village of ''Sant Julià de Fréixens''. History The town was first documented in the year 893, when it was mentioned as ''Balcebre'' in a document describing the consecration of the Cathedral of la Seu d'Urgell. By 983, a castle existed in the town, of which there is no trace today. The municipality in former times was controlled in part by the Abbot of Bagà and the barons of Peguera. By the 15th century, it had become part of the possessions of the Foix family. Culture The parochial church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the patroness of the town, and is of relatively recent origin, having only been constructed in 1931. Ramon Vila Capdevila (; 2 April 1908 – 7 August 1963), sometimes known by various nicknames, including ''Caracremada'' ( Catalan: "burnt-face"), was a Catalan anarchist, member of the ''Confederación Nacional del Trabajo'' (Spanish: National Confederation of Labor), and guerrilla fighter. Early life Vila was born in 1908 in a small village called Peguera in the ''comarca'' (roughly translated as "shire") of Berguedà, Catalonia.
