Fädernas Kyrka
Fädernas kyrka is a 1909 hymn with lyrics by Johan Alfred Eklund and music by Gustaf Aulén. The song appeared in a hymnal for the first time in 1921, in the "Nya psalmer" addition. The song was originally very popular, especially within "Ungkyrkorörelsen", and was added to 1937 års psalmbok. During the early 1970s left-political movement, the lyrics were considered too nationalist, and discussions begun. The song was not appointed for Den svenska psalmboken 1986, since editing the lyrics was not allowed by the copyright holders. However, a version with changed lyrics, are in Svensk psalmbok för den evangelisk-lutherska kyrkan i Finland 1986, as number 168. Hymn
A hymn is a type of song, and partially synonymous with devotional song, specifically written for the purpose of adoration or prayer, and typically addressed to a deity or deities, or to a prominent figure or personification. The word ''hymn'' derives from Greek language, Greek (''hymnos''), which means "a song of praise". A writer of hymns is known as a hymnist. The singing or composition of hymns is called hymnody. Collections of hymns are known as hymnals or hymn books. Hymns may or may not include instrumental accompaniment. Polyhymnia is the Greco/Roman goddess of hymns. Although most familiar to speakers of English in the context of Christianity, hymns are also a fixture of other major religious groups, world religions, especially on the Indian subcontinent (''stotras''). Gustaf Aulén
Gustaf Emanuel Hildebrand Aulén (15 May 1879 – 16 December 1977) was the Bishop of Diocese of Strängnäs, Strängnäs in the Church of Sweden, a Lutheran theologian, and the author of ''Christus Victor'', a work which still exerts considerable influence on contemporary theological thinking on the Atonement in Christianity, atonement. Life Aulén was born in 1879 in Kalmar Municipality, Ljungby parish, Kalmar County, Sweden to Rev. Johan Aulén and Maria Hildebrand. He married a Norwegian woman, Kristine Bjørnstad in 1907. After studying at Uppsala University, Aulén became professor of dogmatics at Lund University in 1913, then Bishop of Strängnäs in 1933. Aulén wrote a huge amount of material in his lifetime and his most famous work –''Christus Victor'' – was published in Swedish in 1930, with an English translation in 1931. Svensk mediedatabas (''Swedish Media Database'') is a search engine for the audiovisual works of the National Library of Sweden. The database contains data about TV, radio, video, movies that have been shown in cinemas, gramophone records, CDs, cassette tapes, video games and multimedia. The SMDB contains most Swedish broadcasts and publications since 1979, but also older works. There is an almost complete list of Swedish gramophone records starting from the end of the 19th century.
